interesting twist
stones7823 September 2013
I would normally say to stay away from episodes after 1976, but this one was still decent enough, and had an interesting story about Edith reading a book on how to be Archie's mistress, even though it was totally unconvincing. It's always worth the price of admission whenever Archie "tries" talking about anything of a sexual nature; Mike tries talking to him about it at the bar, and Edith tries the same at home. For a rare occasion, Gloria, who never adds much of consequence, actually shared some funny moments with her mother as Edith tried hiding the book from her in the opening scene, and it was funny watching them bounce into each other accidentally. The better moments are those conversations Archie has with Edith and Mike, as I said above, but nothing too memorable happens during this episode, and there are far worse ones to come. I always like the blend of comedy and drama from this show, and we get a little of both here, but I would still say to steer clear of those later years of this once great show.
