Another from the very first season of Mystery Science Theatre 3000, which is rather like a pilot version of all that followed.

The show is starting to take shape here. With the familiar number and format or sequences. Although you don't see Joel and the droids in the opening, just the Mads. A reasonably good sketch.

The other three in the middle are all comedy. And not bad. The ending is fan club stuff. With some reasonably good droid comedy.

The movie is a 70's disaster flick, with a massive fire engulfing a city. And various familiar faces from this kind of thing caught up in it. It's not a terrible film, it's just a bit familiar. In how it ticks all the boxes of such.

But it is actually quite fun to watch because of that.

As an episode though one major problem with this is the sound. It's really hard to hear the riffing over the movie sound at a lot of points. Thus you do find yourself watching it more for the film than the comedy. I could probably count on the fingers of no more than two hands how really good riffs are in this one. But there is one brilliant one in particular. Which you can hear. So you will know it when you do.

Not a bad episode for the early ones though, and you can see the dawning greatness in it.
