Unsettling
Hitchcoc30 March 2023
I know this is a comedy (one of my all time favorites), but I have a hard time with the idea of book burning. It is 2023 right now and there is a sort of Naziism going on in our country. Books are being banned and politicians are standing behind it. When a guy in prison reads a self help book written by Dick on ductwork, he uses what he learned to get out of prison. Dick is actually arrested. Soon the town has a pile of Dick's books are are doing book burning. The regulars, Jim and Chester, as well as the cop, are behind all this. Even George, Larry and the boys, and others are looking forward to attending the book burning. I know about provincialism but I didn't find any of this funny.

A Newhart book burning
Jimmy_the_Gent422 June 2018
A prisoner escapes from prison using one of Dick's books as a guide. The town turns against Dick and wants to burn all of his books.

A very funny episode for the townsfolk. Rebecca Schull (later on "Wings") plays a guest who is interested in seeing the book burning which has turned into a big town event. She has some funny lines including "I hear if you read his books backwards you get messages from hell!" Dick tries to talk sense into the town people who finally realize that his books are not Satanic but just boring.
