A haunting masterpiece - it might kill you.

I saw L'ecart at the Montreal World Film Festival. I know the director was there, but I was too shook afterwards to go tell him myself what I thought of the movie. So I write it here to get it off my chest.

I was extremely captivated by this film. I would go as far as to say it is the best film I've ever seen. The image system, the snow landscapes, the actors faces, the boat and water, all it haunts me. The idea of thinking his wife is another woman is a beautiful one, the way he "speaks" to the animals made me identify with myself, the madness, I can't even describe it. I think it's the most profound film I've ever seen, the way the images put me in a state I somewhat remember, but haven't been for a long time. The way the setting, the rather afluent cultural house was just perfect to create the ambiance but never jerked off in "objects" or "materials" to signify things, if you know what I mean, I'm not even sure I do. A true masterpiece.
