Billy and the piano
ShadeGrenade9 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Billy is taking piano lessons in an effort to become Stradhoughton's answer to Liberace. His tutor is the eccentric 'Mr. Honeysett' ( Erik Chitty, best remembered as the absent-minded 'Mr. Smith' from 'Please Sir!' ). Billy's dad is amused by his son's ambitions, and arranges to have a piano delivered to the Fisher household so that Billy can can show off his new-found skills. The only problem is Billy does not have any...

Another episode clearly written as filler material. The plot could have come out of any sitcom of the period. I don't know if 'Happy Ever After' or 'Terry & June' did a similar storyline, but I would not be surprised if they did.

Funniest moment - discovering that nobody in the house can play the piano, Mr. Shadrack begins pounding the keys. Unfortunately, the only tune he knows is 'The Death March'!

On an unrelated note, it has come to my attantion that the 'Get Some Some In!' star Gerard Ryder ( who played 'Matthew Lilley' ) passed away in 2021. Tony Selby, who played the fearsome 'Corporal Marsh, died a few months later, the latter was another victim of the Covid 19 epidemic. Their deaths were not widely reported at the time, which is incredibly sad.
