Principal Prickly is leaving is about Sir Prickly leaving 3rd street for a middle school. The children hear the news and TJ Dirtwhiler and his gang cheer for joy. Menlo breaks the news and tell them that a Hydra princpal is coming, and he is bad news. The children go from joy to depressed. The Hydra Guy comes for a visit, and he is absolute strict. The children shiver in his presents. TJ Dirtwhiler tried to use his kiss up ability on the new principal, and it had no effect. The gang after insulting, blaming, abusing and talking bad about Sir Prickly they then suck up and kiss up to him for him to stay. Their tactics don't work and Prickly is off to his new school. The children are anxious of the new principal.
Last minute Prickly returns to 3rd Street school and says "they didn't offer him much money". Prickly walks into the school and the ungrateful children cheer for joy because Sir Prickly is back and the Hydra Guy is gone.
A good episode about "what don't know what you got till it's gone". Throughout the series, the children behave rude towards Prickly for just doing his job. Then last minute because a Hydra Guy will be the replacement, they become and behave like a dog so desperate to not want to be chained up to a post. TJ Dirtwhiler had one of his suck up moments which felt cringe. The Hydra Guy could have turned TJ straight.
So yeah a good episode where you feel it for the children and happy that they appreciate the guy they hate. Recess animation changes a lot through the series. This episode, its way more bright and colorful than others. Overall, a good episode.
