This farce comedy was, at least by one large audience, considered as a scream, and it received no help from good sound effects at all, nothing but a piano being used. There is a savage looking lion, "Bloody," in it, loose, and we are sure that with a good man working a growler sound effect it would have been still better. It has climaxes of the kind that make one jump, and these are followed by relaxing moments that made a roar of laughter There are parts in it better than others; but, as a whole, it gives the merriest kind of entertainment. The photography is good enough so that nothing that is amusing is lost. - The Moving Picture World, May 11, 1912
