It's amazing that a Monday episode would contain a cliffhanger worthy of a Friday with Roger confronting Victoria and basically restraining her in order to find out what she knows and to tell his side of the story. Roger confesses to losing Burke's pen which certainly would give Victoria the motive to want to run away (or the audience to scream as the pain saga continues!), but it's seemingly all for nothing.
David, the little eavesdropper, sneaks into the old house where he looks at a portrait of his ancestor, shows at Collins, begging her to speak to him as she usually does. Kathryn Leigh Scott becomes the first Dark Shadows actor to appear in a dual role, playing Josette's ghost. This is only the third visit into the old house (although the new house certainly doesn't look any younger) and more kills are added by the presence of Thayer David as the scary Matthew. Scott is barely recognizable as the ghost with the fuzzy camera that doesn't get too close to her.
A scene between Burke and Carolyn having dinner, as mentioned in a previous episode, is basically a recap of everything that has been going on. We're Victoria stands on what Rodger tells her becomes confused when Burke suddenly calls the Collins house and she, by coincidence, answers the phone. This takes two Notches of gothic Intrigue up several points so all in all, it's not a bad episode.
