This episode seems to be building up to some great plot twists, with Joe, Burke and Elizabeth determined to find Victoria after Joe finds her suitcase. It is interesting to see Elizabeth and Burke working together on an important Mission especially with Burke's recent Revelations concerning his attempts to take over the Collinsport canneries. Matthew is getting more and more desperate, and that is making him dangerous and sinister, a sign that the plot is about to wrap itself up.
It seems like the episodes really tend to be average in quality, but every 25 episodes or so comes a chilling, practically excellent episode like this one. Certainly more recently, there have been better episodes than average, but they are tied together with recaps of what has been going on that are dull and barely move the plot along. Victoria certainly has become the hard luck heroine of the show, not always the brightest flame in a candleabra, but easy to root for. The performances, particularly by Thayer David, are all very good.
