Ironic choice of words, Elizabeth. Very gracious to her sister-in-law whom she has not seen in years, Elizabeth warns Roger that Laura may be back to claim her son, and they need to be prepared for her alliance with former flame (another ironic choice of words) Burke Devlin. Where is the first half of the episode deals with Elizabeth and Rodger wondering when she will show up and the second part deals with them and her meeting finally while David has a nightmare about his mother, screaming out her name. With parents like Roger and Laura, you can see why David has the problems he does.
On the surface, Laura seems completely cured of whatever ailed her, but there is a hidden darkness in her eyes that is intriguing enough to create a great new story for the series. Burke tries to find her to no avail, and when David gets up after his nightmare, it becomes clear that is in some sort of trance, running outside and once again screaming for his mother. The series is beginning to emulate one of those early 60s horror movies which usually starred Barbara Steele (ironically who appeared in the later primetime version of "Dark Shadows") and dealt with the returned a mysterious spouse and the vengeance she sought.
