Peter inherits a house from an uncle he hated. And also gets a surprise.

Disclaimer: I worked on this film. But I've worked on some others, too, and this is the first time I felt compelled to comment.

This is a no-budget project(*) by a bunch of talented young filmmakers(**), but it doesn't look or feel like that in any way. Their ambitions were small - 3 on-camera actors, half hour run time, simple acoustic score - but what they did, they did to the fullest professional standard. While the story stands on its own, you could easily consider this the first act of a well-produced full length drama. The acting, and all of the crafts(***), are first-rate.

Last week I ran a workshop on advanced audio post-production in LA****, and used clips from Scotch Hill for my audience of about fifty film professionals and serious wannabes. They all loved it.

Look for this film. I hope it goes far. If it doesn't, at least the people who made it probably will.

* I did it for free. So did everybody else. I normally get paid.

** Okay, not totally young. A decade or so of experience with spots, corporate pieces, and less ambitious narrative films.

*** Mostly the co-writer/producer/director/editor, the DP/composer, an excellent boom/mixer, and a few other folks.
