Ancient Astronauts
AaronCapenBanner23 September 2014
Third broadcast episode of this TV series deals with the subject of ancient astronauts, which had already been covered in the first special 'In Search Of Ancient Astronauts' in 1973 narrated by Rod Serling, and again in 'In Search Of Ancient Mysteries' in 1975. The official series version is a slimmer, more condensed yet also more entertaining version of those two specials, though that is certainly no reflection on the late Rod Serling! Covers the same ground as before, but does so in its own effective style and panache that made it so memorable. The book 'Chariots Of The Gods' is an obvious influence, though given even-handed treatment here.

Warning: Spoilers
Ancient Aviators asks questions episode! A true In Search of. The episode starts out with early Aviators, and flight. Different kinds of flight before the Wright brothers is studied. Then question of similarities of different cultures and flight is analyzed. Drawings, design and thought are theorized. Who, what and why are asked? The idea of something not from earth is breached. What I found interesting is the symbols only visual only from air, were made thousands of years ago. Entertaining, episode. But I would like to hear from the counter argument, which my class studied in Astronomy years ago. 7 out of 10 stars. I see Rod Serling/ Night Gallery influence in the beginning! One can see why In Search of became a hit!

In Search Of... "Ancient Aviators" (1977)

The third episode in the series gives us a brief education on early aviation but then it asks about possible air travel going back to the 1500s. The episode is pretty entertaining as we take a look at various examples where it's possible people were flying before the Wright Brothers. We learn about several locations across the country where it appears items were edged into the ground with the only means of viewing them or improving on them being from the sky. For the most part this is an entertaining episode and especially the stuff dealing with possible early flying. Not all of these fliers are meant to be alien form.
