In Search Of... "Monster Hunters" (1978)

Here's another good episode for the third season as we meet a couple people who actively go out and search for monsters. We hear from one guy studying the Loch Ness monster but the main focus is on a man who is trying to track down Bigfoot so that he can capture him on film. The man talks about why he wants to hunt Bigfoot and he also talks about a few of his close calls. At the same time, we also hear from a man who just doesn't believe. If you're a fan of the series or just Bigfoot shows then you should be entertained by this episodes. The interviews are quite good and the subject itself makes for an entertaining episode.

Episode: B+

Monster Seekers
AaronCapenBanner25 September 2014
Poignant episode examines those dedicated men who are hunters of monsters, especially Bigfoot, but whom are not threatening, but merely want to, in some ways, befriend the creatures, and try to understand them, in order to prove their existence to a skeptical world. Famed seeker Peter Byrne is profiled, and he had appeared before, and would again, and is a fountain of experience and wisdom, but it is eminently likable fellow seeker Arch Buckley who steals the spotlight, and his sincere efforts to coax a Bigfoot into his camp, and teach students in the Bay Area Group of monster hunters is most appealing. A fine companion piece to earlier 'Bigfoot' and future 'Abominable Snowman'.

Unintentionally hilarious

Warning: Spoilers
One of the things that made In Search Of... such a wonderful show is that it had something that appealed to everyone. If you were into UFO's and extraterrestrials they had episodes on UFO sightings and alien abductions. If you were into the mysteries of history there were episodes on the Lindbergh kidnapping and the Kennedy assassination and of course if you just liked a good old fashioned ghost story on a cold night to scare you to sleep they had plenty of those. In addition I wanted to point out they had shows on Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster and the Abominable Snowman as well. This was one of the episodes and I recently watched it again and found it unintentionally hilarious with the eccentric group of monster hunters who believe that through love in their hearts they can communicate with Bigfoot. Thanks for giving me a good laugh guys and I agree that there isn't enough love in the world.

Well I enjoyed the episode when I was a kid!

Warning: Spoilers
Well I enjoyed this episode when I was a kid! 9 or 10 years old I would be like monsters cool /scary! Now in my 50's I found Monster Hunters silly. There is a guy who chases around the Lockness monster. Well the evidence is dubious and hearsay. Then when Monster Hunters hits towards bigfoot the episode becomes laughable. There is a silly guy who chases Bigfoot with tall tales, and bigger tall tales for the Bigfoot club. There is a skeptic who explains many good reason not to believe. Fun and entertaining episode, but as and adult I find Monster Hunters a joke episode. Well narrated and at a good pace, but silly. 3 stars.
