A true mystery episode.
mm-399 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The Lost Colony of Roanoke is a great mystery episode. Governor White returns to Roanoke only to find his former home empty. Reenactments, interviews with experts mixed in with creepy music and narration spices up the mystery episode. Was there a Indian raiding party? Possible with some evidence. Could a disease which caused mental illness happen? Another possibility. Could the colony been driven out looking for help? Plausible. The Lost Colony of Roanoke episode does not solve the mystery! However, one great mystery which make The lost Colony of Roanoke memorable. Eight out of ten stars.

In Search Of... "The Lost Colony of Roanoak" (1979)

Here's another excellent episode from season four. This one here deals with Governor White and his family who were sent from England and started a colony in Roanoak, Virginia. White was forced to return home but when he returned to Virginia there wasn't a trace of his family. This episode talks about the mystery surrounding what happened to the colony. This turned out to be another excellent episode for the series as the re-enactments were quite good and the story itself is just so fascinating that you can't help but get caught up in what happened. There are some nice interviews that discuss the various theories as well as some clues that were later found. This here is certainly one of the better episodes of the series.

A Vanished People

Historical-based episode takes on the popular account of the lost colony of Roanake, Virginia, where English settlers tried to establish a colony despite the ever-present threat from local natives, the weather, and the shaky support from their queen, who was soon to be preoccupied in a war with Spain. Years went by before a relief ship could be sent, but by then it was too late, as the colony had entirely vanished, leaving behind only one cryptic clue: the word "croatoan" written on a tree. Much speculation has ensued about their fate, but no definitive answers were found, though it is likely they were absorbed into a local native tribe that later became extinct... Memorable episode creates a wonderful sense of eerie mystery, and contains interesting interviews with locals.
