A story told too fast...but with interesting elements as well. Warning: Spoilers
In my opinion, Thundercubs should have been an adventure told in 7 or maybe even 8 or 9 episodes as many events occur too fast. This is the case of the first part of this episode where Mumm-Ra finds the legendary, for long time lost, and in theory very difficult to find, evil "Sword of Plun-Darr" just by asking the "Ancient Spirits of Evil" to help him. Searching for a sword as mean and powerful as to cause the destruction of a full planet could (and should) have taken one or two full episodes and it happens in 3 minutes. At this point , I also think appropriate to remember that no matter how powerful Mumm-ra seems, his powers are not his, they are borrowed from ancient priests of evil and the Sword of Plun-Darr was not found really by him. The bottom line here is that the series always state with total clarity that while the forces of good have powers and talents of themselves, the forces of evil are always the servants of more evil and bigger forces. A concept that is repeated many times in the story and that is always good to point out.

Also, even when it completely makes sense that the "Sword of Omens" was able to signalize where the "Treasure of Thundera" was, it happened to be right in the ruins that were in front of the Thundercats. This and many other details happened too soon during this and the other 4 episodes of "Thundercubs" as well, making it not a bad story, but a story told a little bit too fast, hastily. As I said, not a bad story, but maybe they should have taken one extra chapter to tell it.

One element that I noticed when I watched again the series as an adult is how interesting selection of colors and textures are found in the animation of the higher seasons of the Thundercats (namely 3rd and 4th season), the colors and different illumination patterns in some of the sceneries of New Thundera are really interesting. Maybe I didn't notice them when I was a child because of my low definition TV or maybe I just didn't pay enough attention, but I invite you to take a look at the drawings of some of the landscapes next time you see these seasons and judge them by yourself . Take in consideration that they were made when most of the animation was still done by hand, basically without the aid of computer programs or special effects.

Another plus point in this episode is that we finally see an episode where being too daring and reckless gives bad results, in other stories of the Thundercats we see Lion- 0 and other characters almost always getting away with it, despite their recklessness because of their good intentions; something that does not happen here. In this episode the whole mission is put into danger because Snarf and Snarfer act too soon (and hastily!), trying to free their countrymen just the two of them. Finally an episode where taking good decisions is so emphasized as having good intentions. This separation from the group also facilitated Mumm-ra to disguise as Snarfer and steal the "Treasure of Thundera" when the Thundercats found it!!!!!!!

3 "Thundercubs" chapters run, 2 more to go and now Mumm-ra has both the "Treasure of Thundera and the evil "Sword of Plun-Darr".
