Better, still a bit odd.

Boyd calculates that there is a tenuous link between the death of the Iraqi shopkeeper, and the disappearance of The Mahdi's skull.

Even as I write that small description I'm baffled, it seems so odd, and I've been watching Star Trek Discovery.

An improvement over the first episode, and that's largely because the story is more heavily focused on more down to Earth matters, specifically the death of the shopkeeper.

The story is all over the place it's pretty fair to say, but it is good for two of the main cast, Boyd and Grace. Grace shows her true metal, interviewing the poor daughter, and learning secrets. Boyd is outstanding, great scenes where he's made to confront the kind of person he really is.

Graham Crowden looks so frail, bless him. One shining star, Polly Walker, for the time she's in it, she's great.

It's only recently, reading articles, reviews etc, that I've learned that Deux Ex Machina is regarded as the poor relation. Is it worthy of that tag, I'm not so sure, yes the case is one better suited to Indiana Jones, but it does improve as it develops.

It's ok, 7/10.
