"Lessons in Love" is the lengthiest DVD from Playgirl I've seen so far, running almost 3 hours including bonus segments. The romantic content is merely okay, and softer than the norm.
Exception is "Naked Eye", in which cover boy on the DVD TJ Cummings is in the studio snapping cheesecake photos of model Sara Stone, leading of course to humping her. The XXX content of this scene is far stronger than the rest of the video, with close-ups and penetration where the other vignettes rely mainly on soft-core angles or long shots to keep the explicit sex remote. Oddest touch, due for further sociological research, is that on the front and back DVD covers we have a shot of TJ, but his partner Sara is hidden, seen only from behind, her face and humongous breasts not visible. What this implies about Playgirl and Wicked Pictures' marketing strategy is unclear: were they going after women who want to ogle actors like TJ a la Chippendales dancers, or were they presaging the current Playgirl website aimed strictly at Gay men.
Two of the segments are rather strange, even outre. Evan Stone stars in "Projector", resembling in mood the many, many Adam & Eve features he made in their patented dreamy/mystical mode of romance. He's humping a jail-bait looking (flat-chested) young girl on a bed that is floating in water, surrounded by torches mounted variously on the same water feature. The whole scene is doubled by being projected on a large-screen as backdrop, similar to a CCTV effect. What this all means is beyond me.
Even odder is Tony De Sergio and a statuesque brunette in "Undying Love", in which the maiden covered head-to-toe in a veil is unwrapped by Tony and serviced, in a vaguely Gothic atmosphere set. When he's deposited his money shot on her posterior, there's a dissolve to her lying on her back corpse-like with Tony carefully covering her body with the veil and sauntering off naked. The definite air of necrophilia hovers over this particular fantasy.
Worst thing here is a ridiculously long (31 minutes) Bonus Solo starring Michael Anthony, who polishes up a bar's counter, poses for the camera, strips and then jerks off atop the bar. It takes the full half hour for him to ejaculate on the bar (needs to be polished again -he should have waited), preposterous footage when in fact these Playgirl solos should run in the neighborhood of 10 minutes, just as those '50s and '60s peep show loops ran but starred beautiful women instead of Gay-baiting studs.
