Life can get messy, but Bauer's Soap gives audience clean perspective on love.
jennycmack14 April 2007
A renowned story teller, Kara Bauer's first foray into directing a short film is a triumph. Soap turns a typical tale of love upside down by telling it within the lifespan of a bar of soap. Quirky and humorous, Bauer's characters wash their hands, fall in love, and experience their first potential relationship crisis all to a glycerin audience. The cinematography is creamy and Technicolor-rich, while the soundtrack is as tight as a drum. Bauer's central character invites the audience into her private salle de bain as she cleans to the Pixies and assesses her newly-in-love face to Elefant. The editing and beats of the soundtrack keep the tight story line on target and viewers engaged. Looking forward to this Alpena, Michigan native's next project.
