"Waiting for God" is unusual because unlike other great shows, there were very few disappointing episodes. In fact, up until "Another Christmas at Bayview", there were no poor episodes. But, thanks to a REALLY bad and overused cliche, it's quite a disappointment.
The show starts off well. Harvey 'idiot' Baines is on a ladder putting up Christmas decorations at Bayview. Tom and Diana (and mostly Tom) conspire to make the Idiot Baines fall...and the scene is hilarious. UNFORTUNATELY, it then goes south, as suddenly Harvey is a nice person and wants to marry Jane! This is a VERY had old sit-com cliche...and the likes of Herman Munster and Gomez Addams (among many others) all suffered similar fates until they were bashed on the head once again! The only major difference is that it took many bashes to restore Harvey to the jerk that he usually was!
In addition to this bad plot, the local church has wrangled Diana into directing a nativity play! It's, of course, awful...but fun to watch.
