Laurel And Hardy Sources

A dull evening at home: he's smoking and staring blankly to the right of the camera. She's reading the newspaper. Suddenly, a telegram is delivered. He has to go to the Club for an important meeting.

Well, I've seen this set-up before. it's the start of Laurel & Hardy's BLOTTO, and at least one other of their shorts which consists mostly of trying to get some boots on Ollie. However, this short is directed by Johann Schwarzer, and he didn't make slapstick comedies. He made shorts in which women wound up naked, the sort of movies they used to play at men's clubs when it wasn't ladies' night. So you know someone is going to wind up in the nude. Is it going to be the pretty woman the man in the first scene is dining with in a private room? What do you think?
