This is one of my favorite shows! There are always layers upon layers of the dialogue that make you truly pay attention to every word. This episode made me question whether they had lost their magic, but please continue on as it jumps right back in the following episodes.

If you're an avid watcher of the series; you already know how great it is...There are changes coming, telegraphed in last season but they leave the door open as to their future. Giamatti is his usual self; he draws you in... EVERYONE is back... which is great, because the characters are interesting and multi leveled. This series is so tight. Everyone involved just hits their marks and it's refreshing to hear interesting dialog and to watch twisting subterfuge being played out so well...

When I was watching Season 5 premiere, I must say, I feel this deep immense joy! It is such a masterpiece already, because the photoscenes are really professional, they are aesthetical. And Bobby is just so unique and deep... I definitely recommend to watch the Season 5!

Every line is a smart-alecy quotable quote. As if people can't speak normally. An artist knows when there's too much of a good thing. The story seems to be meandering, if not absent altogether, replaced by adolescent 'cool' dialogue...let's see. One or two more episodes is the rope I'll have for this should-have-ended-by-now run.

Don't get me wrong, Billions is one of my top TV series ever, but this first episode was way below average. Nothing new, just the same old concept over and over. I have high hopes that the season will be better than its opening episode.
This is what I wrote about the last season finale: "I thought after the 3rd season that the peak was behind us, I'm happy that I was wrong. I loved every minute of the 4th season, and the finale, wow. Suddenly every piece of the puzzle came together, and in what way! The script writers deserve a medal!"
For this episode script writers don't deserve a medal. What the * was even that cringy group motivation scene, really?

Are you as stupid as Bobby Axel? If you will give the keys to your castle to the person that spent last season trying to destroy you, you just might be. I can't wait to see the dues ex machine device they use to save Bobby from his stupidity this season.

Coming out from last weeks homeland finale that outlandishly good, and now landing on this season premiere is kinda lame.
Let me explain. Fan if both shows equally (maybe i liked billions more), but somehow most of the scenes seemed very unnatural, writing is cringeworthy, bailing so much on crypto is such a disaster and lame move that i have no words. You waste these stunning actors on dialogues so bad its painful to watch. Were I browsing through cryptotwitter or watching and interrogation scen, really don't feed me what is fiat currency based on and all other monetary policy BS, also Axe and Wags doing ayahuasca, really guys? I mean when you used Nassim's quote here and there by mid season, it was passable, sometimes good, there was tension already built-up for that kind if things, but now at the premiere? And wrestling champion? Give me a break. Let alone bringing back cats and mouse narrative AGAIN? Please no. Also you're the ones who made Malkovic storyline pretty cool and menacing and now you build around VF cover? Have no words. Very disappointed. Will stick few more episodes. Stars are for the terrific actors you have.

The actors are great but the show is stuck in a rut, rocking back and forth and doing nothing new.
This show features a dodgy cameo presenting the least convincing pep talk I have ever heard and a very nice advert for BMW motorbikes.
Will we ever see Axe doing anything more than stomping around pouting? He doesn't seem to do much work...
This show used to surprise people, now it's just about showing off locations and products.

I had to keep rating the episode lower the longer it went on. Terrible changes in character. The writers are simultaneously glorifying hedgfunds and can't resist demonizing crypto currencies (again)? Weird wrestler cameos? Bad dialog and writing all around. It feels like many of the reviews here are fake like they didn't even watch the ep.
