sorry, this is my train
ferguson-610 April 2020
Greetings again from the darkness. What do you see when you look in the mirror? Better yet, are you satisfied that the person looking back is the person you want to be? First time filmmaker Nika Fehmiu asks us to consider what we've become as a society.

Ms. Fehmiu is writer-director-editor-producer on this 14 minute short, and she proves to have a sharp eye and a knack for efficient storytelling and character development. Hadley Robinson, whose career is off to a good start with LITTLE WOMEN and "Fosse/Verdon", spots a non-responsive man while waiting for her train. She hesitates but then calls 911. Juliette Alice Gobin is frantically working her Instagram account and oblivious to others around her.

There's a flashback to earlier in the evening when Connor Vasile is home with his Croatian parents before heading out for a night of hard partying with his friends. Whether it's a buddy who can't take the time to make sure you get home safe, or strangers tied up on social media or a meditation podcast, the message is pretty clear. We have become disconnected from one another to such an extreme that we can no longer tell when a fellow human being is in real trouble. First time filmmaker Fehmiu and first time cinematographer Wayland Bell set off quite an alarm for us.
