Warning: Spoilers
For a movie that spends way too much time on the villain, we hardly see any character development or even character at all. We get that the bad guy is an evil ra*ist, but should that require over 50% of the runtime focussing on torture p**n?
Story wise, this is nothing new. Why does every Indian thriller movie make it a point to portray the Doctor as a bad guy lmfao!?
Honestly, the movie could have lost an hour of run-time without changing the overall impact of the final product.
The only scene i preferred in the entire movie is when Nayanthara gets chased around the first time from the metro station to the mall - it was actually well shot and i was waiting in anticipation over what was going to happen next. Possibly the only way this movie felt like an actual thriller.
On the other end of the spectrum, the police interrogation scene is a joke and I don't understand what they were even trying to acheive with that.
The discount Brother (Gautham) was actually an interesting character and I'm glad they gave him something to do the whole time.
I gave it 5/10 stars and I'm not sure whether it deserves more or less. I guess I'm mad at the lack of originality and the obvious lack of passion in the movie. It feels like the creators think the audience is dumb.
Somebody with the right drive and screenplay could turn the same plot + characters into something actually meaningful.

Not well planned movie
_____ I think director missed these ideas _____
# When Gowtham(brother of protagonist) watches the psycho in the WhatsApp video call, he had a chance to take a screenshot(photo) of that psycho but he missed the chance, if it happened the story ends there.
# Second thing : In the search of psycho, protagonist disguise herself into a patient, in this scene she goes there with her cellphone but in middle of the way she was disconnected so she lost. If she went with a tracker, story ends there.
My question is What is the motto of the director?
Is making heroine blind (or) killing the psycho ?

Warning: Spoilers
- Good story but the duration and screenplay of the movie was not good

A GOOD THRILLER LACKS ITS PUNCH IN MIDWAY

NAYANTHARA MAM GAVES AN ABOVE AVERAGE PERFORMANCE. ALL OTHER CHARACTERS ARE WELL PLAYED. AND CASTING WAS GOOD ENOUGH. AND THE VILLAIN'S PERFORMANCE WAS NOTABLE AND HE GAVE AN TOP NOTCH PERFORMANCE. NOT A FAITHFUL REMAKE,THE STORY WAS LITTLE WAY STRECHED FOR TAMIL AUDIENCE. BUT MORE EXPECTED FOR DIRECTOR MILIND RAU. BUT NEARLY DISAPPOINTED FOR THE EXPECTATIONS OF HIM.
TO SAY IN A WORD "AN ABOVE AVERAGE ONE TIME WATCHABLE GOOD THRILLER"

There are enough easy ways of tracking a criminal in 2021. I don't know what director of this movie thinking about audience. Entire mall and metro station is open and empty, not even a single person/ guard / officer available. It's ridiculously directed movie and a must no-watch for any age. It's a big thumbs down for Nayantara to act in a such a worst movie.
A watchable decent thriller!
nrnjnkarthi13 August 2021
A Good and decent paced Thriller. Nayanthara has done a brilliant performance, the show stealer of the movie. Ajmal did justice to that villain character apart from these roles Manikandan and Saran's roles are well scripted and executed properly. Now coming to the story and plot it's adopted from 'The Blind' movie. The game between psychotic villain who kidnaps girls and a Blind Civilian who was an ex-CBI officer. The first half was really well it connects with some emotions and after a particular point the tension builds till the half time. Second half was little bit draggy but good enough to watch. The cause of the villain's transformation could be portrayed in a better way and the climax had a small lag but it won't affect the overall experience.
Apart from some minor mistakes it's a good decent thriller flick from the Lady Superstar!!.

Lady Superstar Nayanthara's Netrikann Is A Tense Thriller But Overlong !!!
cs_rahul_prasad24 August 2021
Netrikann begins with Durga (Nayanthara, who nails the physicality of the character), a CB-CID officer, losing her brother (Sacchin Nachiappan) due to a freak accident, which also leaves her vision-less. Not one to wallow in self-pity, she learns to survive on her own despite her disability. But her biggest test comes when she has to track down a pyschopath (Ajmal Ameer), who kidnaps and tortures women for kinks, and has started to fancy her as a victim.
A remake of the 2011 Korean film Blind, Netrikann is a tense, if a bit overlong, thriller that keeps us on the edge of our seats for the most part. Milind Rau not only manages to give his protagonist an emotional arc that makes us sympathise with her, but also establishes the bond between her and the supporting characters - Manikandan (Manikandan, quietly impressive), an earnest but not-so-bright cop and Gautham (Saran, likeable), a delivery boy, who soon becomes the surrogate brother for Durga - very well, so that we care for their safety as well. He also gives us a few nail-biting moments. A sequence that begins on a Metro train, in which the villain stalks Durga and tries to kidnap her, and ends with a thrilling chase leaves us breathless for a few minutes. And given that he has the Lady Superstar as his protagonist, the director gives us a couple of mass moments as well. Nayanthara, who is understated for the most parts, turns on her star wattage to the maximum in these scenes, turning them into whistle-worthy moments.
It is hard to not talk about Mysskin's Psycho when discussing Netrikann. That film, too, dealt with a visually challenged protagonist who was after a psycho killer. But while Mysskin's film was a more complex exploration of crime and punishment, Milind Rau is content with giving us a genre thriller - a cat-and-mouse game between a fiesty heroine and a sadistic villain. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. Genre thrillers have their own challenges and Milind Rau navigates them competently. But the other film was also unique. Both the violence in the film and the filmmaking itself felt pure. Here, the violence somehow feels a bit wannabe (the otherwise perfect Ajmal also goes a bit OTT in these portions) and the filmmaking proficient (Girishh's score does the heavy work here) but not more.
The film also suffers from a long-drawn-out third act. We get a backstory for the antagonist's sadomasochistic behaviour, one which might even send the wrong signals about people with a particular medical condition. And by the time we see the disabled protagonist manage to escape from the grasp of her stronger opponent for the nth time, the film begins to test the limits of plausibility. But the manner in which the director gives closure to his protagonist's trauma helps him end the film on a satisfying note.

Missing Something..

The movie is just like an old vine in new bottle. There are few predictable moments throughout the story. Nayathara's character had failee to make a special impact in film. Acting side was okay but not so extraordinary one. Even the movie is an one time watchable one. Coming to the bgm and music section it's not upto the mark. If you are looking for suspenseful thriller film you'll surely get disappointed. Cinematography and direction was a better one but the story and the screenplay lacks some thriller elements. There are somany stupid things had done to this movie. Even though I'm not entering to it as it become a spoiler. Any way an one time watchable film.
This movie got into my nerve...

It's a official remake of an Korean movie called BLIND. When u got a version already, either you do as original or improvise better than original version. But this director proved he is an amateur. Such a boring scene, no logic (no common sense too).. Extremely made me annoyed the way scene and acting was done.
There are people with own good story and script try for ages to get a chances. Where else director like this movie get easy chance and make a crap movie. Such a waste of time, avoid it in any cost.

Engaging in the last minutes
soloinfotechkerala13 August 2021
First half is seen as a normal film choreographed wrong .... Camera was neat but the making lacked emotion in the first half ...the real emotion is brought to screen about the ending of the film . It seemed as if the director didn't have control over actors except nayan akka who is a real professional and just live with it . Actors were just imitating script just like in a serial . There were instances that lack clarity and leave so many logical questions to viewers. Anyway a good attempt . Keep going.
Worst Vulgar Movie
vtamilamudhan14 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Illogical movie. Director scripted to use video chat to navigate and Save Nayantharaand, but Ajmal in lock up can easily escape just killing 3 cops and Nobody is in Police station. Just to run script.. he came up with all of his creativity in vulgarity.
Another format of Myskin's Psycho
saru20201 May 2022
A psycho kinda genre but introduced a different sexual disease concept but otherwise, it is almost similar to Mysskin's psycho film only plot-wise.
Nayan played her role very well and the side actors: the guy who acted as a brother & the policeman acted their roles very well.
Nayan's role was well intelligently designed and the investigation sequences were somewhat engaging like solving a puzzle but still, it could've been made better with more twists & turns and maybe with more psycho-ism based different kinda film-making like how Mysskin did, nevertheless, it is a good one-time watch if you feel bored and like psycho kinda films.

RATED 6/10
Language: Tamil
Source: Hotstar
Lots of loop holes and heroism factor killed the flow... The original was released 10yrs before, those times these might be logical...
There should be more scenes about how he uses her senses... lot of scenes she is guiding police and all characters (including Villain) are stupid other than Nayan...
One time watchable with some boring moments...
Director should understand this is not year 1985..

Lady super star has given her best performance.
Songs are really good.
Once again psycho villain kidnaps the girls and Protagonist fights to find them.
Ajmal character replicates previous Psycho villains. We have seen lot of psycho villains.
Thriller movie needs a super psycho.
Overall the movie is good thriller for Tamil adult audiences.
Cons: Two and half hrs is not a good idea for a thriller movie.
Few scenes could have been avoided.
