ADVENTURES OF THE FALCON "The Stevedore Kid" 1955
This is the 37th episode of the 39 episode run of the 1954 to 1956 series, ADVENTURES OF THE FALCON. Film noir icon Charles McGraw headlines as Mike Waring, an agent of the U.S. Government. The series follows McGraw as he travels the world putting the kibosh on various criminals and foreign agents. The series is loosely based on the FALCON series of films of the 1940's.
The U.S. Government is annoyed that several goods shipments are being held up on the docks. They have a man, Clancy Cooper looking into the matter. The reason for the problem is that there is a turf war going on for control of the dock workers. The shipping companies are on one side and a mobster, Ted de Corsia on the other.
Of course Cooper is killed and Agent Mike Waring (Charles McGraw) is sent in. McGraw goes undercover as a stevedore looking for work. The only way to get a job is to pay de Corsia and his mob a fee. Needless to say this does not sit well with the workers, but they are all too terrified of the mobsters to say anything.
Now the brother of the slain man, Will White shows up. He is looking for whoever killed his brother. The mob has seen through McGraw's cover and tells White that it was McGraw who killed his brother, Cooper. Needless to say there is a bit of rough and tumble before McGraw sets White right. Now, White tears after de Corsia and his henchman. A gun stuck in one of a henchman's eye soon has the man fingering the boss, de Coria. There is another round of fists etc before de Corsia can be handed over to John Law.
The series was produced on the cheap but does supply plenty of action, even though the same sets are used over and over. This particular episode looks sharper than most of the series. Then, it does have Oscar winner, Floyd (High Noon) Crosby handling the cinematography duties.
