Directors Taylor Rees and Renan Ozturks' short documentary, ASHES TO ASHES, is one of the MOST POWERFUL films we've seen in a long time and is VERY IMPORTANT especially during these troubling and divisive times. ASHES TO ASHES focuses on Winfred Rembert, a survivor of an attempted lynching in 1967, as he shares his story of struggle and recovery through art. Rembert's personal tale is set against the Black Lives Matter movement and honors the many forgotten victims during the Jim Crow era. Powerful, Important, and Heartbreaking, ASHES TO ASHES is deeply moving and an ABSOLUTE MUST WATCH. It's not wonder Ashes to Ashes WON the Award for Best Documentary at the 2020 Blackbird Film Festival.
