Good ending but missing a key character

Warning: Spoilers
A shame we didn't actually get to see what happened to Melanie, makes me think that they'll likely bring her back for the next season on board yet another train!

Bean and Blanchard take the helm.
This_Is_Darkness2 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Well, this wasn't the ending many of us wanted. Most importantly the issues with the sections of train moving into impossible directions, in relations to each other, made this finale particularly frustrating. There were some great moments otherwise, though it was unfortunate that we never saw Connelly in the finale.

Going forward we can only hope that Blanchard keeps up the excellent performances and that Bean's character will simmer back down into less of a wild supervillain, as the subdued version seemed much more fitting to the show and actor.

I've only watched the finale once, but I am still holding out hope that Connelly will somehow not have died and return to the train, but that's probably unlikely. If not, it's unfortunate because there was great chemistry between all the main/new cast, especially around mid-season.

The best episode of the entire series
HELLFIRE25630 March 2021
It's insane how the second season is so much greater than the first season.

So many great and unexpected plots and generally the quality of the episodes are much better and the pacing is incredible with barely any boring moments.

When you think this plot can't surprise you anymore it just can't finish of doing it. I've enjoyed it from beginning to the end. Everyone is dividing by groups, who are real, who are fake ones. Twists is the thing that keeps viewer alive and wishing for more and more. I loved ending and all I can say it's the best episode of both season. Waiting for next season.

The best episode in my opinion
nyistormarian30 March 2021
It's clear that the series is improving. Maybe they should start the series with a pilot and after that, to film a hole seson with the viewers review in mind.

Great episode but not sure I'm coming back for season 3

Warning: Spoilers
I mean without Melanie there is almost no reason to watch this show anymore. I mean Sean bean was a superb this season. I do feel he lost a bit of his unique psychological aspect at the end but non the less fantastic unique villain with a fantastic god complex. But Melanie was the heart and soul of this show. It just won't be the same without her. Especially with Leyton taking her role I think we all know about his acting in the show. Also the way she left the show feels like the producers couldn't get her back to finish shooting the show. She will be missed.

Big Alice Pushing, Snowpiercer braking...
MikoLaas31 March 2021
... and that's how we zoomed by Melanie.

So how on earth did de-coupling the trains make Snowpiercer head back to the pick-up location? It would literally have to go through Big Alice?

Just as logical as skin-grafting to survive extreme colds. I suppose your eyes and lungs are also freeze-proof?

Good sci-fi potential turned into gibberish.

Not the season finale I was hoping for
DrKennyKeps8 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was hoping Wilford wouldn't make it, so I guess I'll have to endure another couple of episodes with him (if there is another season).

Just kill him off, and then this series could focus more on being about the science and repopulation of the earth rather than a train soap opera. At least now we know that the earth is in fact warming up.

Good, should have been the end
eliwolfed12 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have to say that I am in love with this episode, but, and there is a big but, how did they even get an idea that killing the main character was a good shot in the show?

I wanted to give 10 rating at first, but the last 10 min ruined it all.

Even though everyone was blooming in this episode (Josie being a frost woman, love it), and the plot was good (not gonna lie, could have been better), the ending actually ended the series. I see no point of making another season after you killed probably the only character people actually wanted to watch.

I think a lot of people wont be watching another season, cant tell for sure, I might just check what they did.

Season Two Review
southdavid31 March 2021
I said of the first season of "Snowpiercer" that it was decent enough, although I didn't consider it prestige television like some of its counterparts. Mostly that's how I feel about the second season too, there were some elements that I liked more, some less, but generally about the same.

Big Alice, a powerful support train has finally caught up with Snowpiecer and its charismatic leader, Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) is making his presence known. Having only just established democracy on board the train, Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) immediate has to declare martial law in order to defend his border against its former owner. Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) has to balance the arrival of her daughter, Alexandra (Rowan Blanchard), who is hostile towards her, with her theory that the world might be warming up.

I like the performances still. Sean Bean is a great addition as a real character, rather than just a voice. He looks like he's really enjoying chewing the scenery as the outwardly charming but scheming and cruel Mr Wilford. For the first time this season we get to spend some time off the train, as Melanie takes a walk to a scientific station and tries to establish the facts about the planet's temperature. That's a strong episode if the plot then means that Melanie misses most of the second half of the season.

I still have issues about the internal scientific logic of the show. It's hard to talk about without spoilers but in the conclusion, the locations of the engines doesn't make sense in relation to plan. Also, there's a big deal made about the fact the trains can't stop. . . They are perpetual motion machines and the heating is generated by that movement - again, until the plot doesn't want that anymore.

The story and performances are strong enough that I'd keep watching, but I'd really like it to be more scientifically consistent.

There is no show without Queen Melanie
DragonFireBreather31 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I just watched a 2 hour season finale with no Melanie (Jennifer Connlley) and that blows. I'm pretty pissed. And if she is truly dead then I will not be back for season 3. I would have preferred you kill off Layton rather than our Melanie. I'm not even sure I can endure another season of Daveed Diggs terrible acting. Bad casting with Diggs but Jennifer Connlley was pure perfection. How do you have a season finale without the star of the show? One of the worst finales I've watched. Sean Bean is marvelous as usual but his villainy is pretty bad and 2 hours of him torturing people is more than enough. TNT... you need to do everything you can to sign Connlley to a full season contract, nothing else will do. No flashbacks... she needs to emerge as the Queen she is. And she needs to front and center in EVERY episode! If not... peace out :/

Very disappointing.
yjxajdbs30 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A lot of plot holes.

Was noone on the split end of the train?

If they were going forward, how did the front engine go back for Melanie?

And how can you kill the single, best character and don't even show what she did?

Absolute nonsense.

please stop that train
rdvljunk1 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This finally of S2 is the worst of all. The series is degrading each episode and becoming more and more ridiculous.

The way our "hero's" escape and cross the border, the way they break up the train and the front goes back, while the back keeps going...really? The storyline is a joke and completely unbelievable. You see all the players are loosing their faith in the series because the acting also drops, as if they simply don't believe in it anymore. And Daveed Diggs is absolutely the worst, he was already the worst actor of the set, his acting in this episode is lauhgable.

Jeniffer Connoly did the best thing: stepping out before it would take her down too, and in her last contribution gave the show the best episode "Many Miles from Snowpiercer".

Netflex, you killed excellent series and you let this continue? Please put it out of its missery and return the OA or other excellent series.

Flashbacks Of The Walking Dead
dougmacdonaldburr1 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This reminds me of TWD because I don't really like the show, but, the mediocre writers are just barely good enough to keep me watching it. I only really like two characters Melanie and Wilford. I don't really like Wilford, but, he is an interesting character and Sean Bean does a great job playing him. Melanie is by far my favourite character. I think she is the most interesting and the most likeable. She was also the best leader the train has had by far. It looks like she is dead, but, they didn't technically show her die, which leaves room for a surprise return next season. I find this very annoying, because, if I want to find out if she is dead, which means I will have to wait and keep watching, but, I really have no interest in watching episodes if she is not in it. Sean Bean is great, but, he can't carry the entire show by himself (especially as a villain) at this point I just want closure. If Melanie is alive (and they do a better job of writing) then one last season could be cool. If Melanie is dead, then I really could not care less about Leyton and his merry band of mischief makers, I'd say good luck to Mr Wilford killing them all. It would not be a popular ending, but, I'd find it hilarious.

Worst episode of the series
santerivr4 April 2021
There are so many mistakes done in this episodes. Guards literally have 0 iq. It would be entirely possible to alert more guards and stop the riot before it even started.

[5.5] -170 degrees below greatness
cjonesas17 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 10: An uninteresting SciFi & Physics-wrong episode with a quite weak flow, un-entertaining atmosphere divided between the ever Group, Taily and of course Mr. Wilford!, some average to bad acting, some unmemorable ones, some medical mutation continuing, some nonsense as the very standard of the show, fillers for good measure and an ending where we have to say good bye to Melanie?!

Without the charismatic Jennifer Connelly, your 'Daveed Diggs' farce of a show becomes unwatchable. You couldn't even manage to give her a proper visual ending. Shame on you writers and producers.
