Best Show on Television

Every one of these episodes could be a stand alone movie. There is such a perfect mixture of comedy, drama, action and pure heart. The sparring scene between Alex and Kai in this episode was great. Christian Kane is a star!

Blast from her past

This episode primarily centered around the character of Kia and her past. We get a better look at backstory on her... There were lots of feels in there for Kia, hopefully she will be able to let go of some of the guilt from her past. .

My heart goes out to Kai

I have personally experienced when family/friends are supposed to love and protect you not annihilate you. You find your stronger than you think, and loved more than you know. Watching Kai grow is a beautiful thing.

The weakest episode

I enjoyed the episode but it wasn't nearly as fun or funny as the last two. The character of Ernesto was built up a little bit better. As always, good job by CK.

Rise of the Kalangay

An episode that gives some backstory to Kai. She was a rebellious teenager until her mother's murder who was a respected village elder.

Kai was put right by Cesar Rabara, the detective investigating her mother's killing. Detetive Rebara had caught the killer who then committed suicide.

Now Rebara is back on Mactan with a rock star reputation. He went to work for the police in Manila.

He will be investigating the death of a visiting British professor. Rebara gets Kai on his team.

Alex acts like a petulant child. His nose out of joint as everyone swarms around Rebara.

Alex mistrusts Rebara, he teams up with Ernesto. They quickly discover that the professor was looking at old crimes, where the suspect conveniently killed himself.

A kind of episode that is not new to cop shows. All of a sudden a person behaves out of character as their past is explored.

Give and take...in the time allowed
ClassicsJunkie19 May 2024
The writing in this episode was sad to say not up to standard of the previous ones, concerning the crime and mystery behind it.

It was apparent very early on that the mentor was the killer and ready to frame Kai.

But the character development for Alex, Kai, and Ernesto was written pretty well. I guess that's the give and take. The compromise. You lose strength in one for the other to thrive in the time allowed.

Maybe if this was a two parter, the A story of the mentor's motives for the murder of Kai's murder could have been developed more. I found myself asking...why did he do it in the first place? I kind of got a hint of why he helped get Kai to where she is, but still torn the two possibilities: To atone for killing her mother or readying his scapegoat, which if the latter is despicable.

The emotion was there, I give the writers that. I was able to connect more with Kai which I was in need of. Alex is always fun yet intriguing (huge CK fan). And Ernesto had me from episode one then I was invested after episode 2 when he whooped all those guys asses!

Horrible episode! Totally against the tone and feel of the show!

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know where this episode came from but it shouldn't have. Kai was completely different from how her character usually is. She treated and talked to Alex like trash and ignored her partner! This episode literally made me hate her!

This episode sucked!

Spoilers*****

First off, you could tell who the bad guy was within seconds of him showing up. Second, the episode was so out of character for people. All of a sudden people are acting opposite of who they did in the previous episodes. Just plain stupid. Could have been so much better with better writing.

How come all of a sudden Ki hates Alex and just shoved Ernesto to the side? Every previous episode built up to their relationship together and all of a sudden it was all torn apart. This was just stupid!

On the other hand, the way the frame up worked was pretty good. Honestly though, if the new guy who showed up from the past wasn't a bad guy - that would have been something that you wouldn't see coming.
