Amazing Piece Of History

Tom Brokaw is a American legend in broadcasting, and "1968 with Tom Brokaw" is some of his best work on television, I was glued to my television and learned so much from this, more then I have learned from any TV program. And from MLK and RFK, and the hippie movement, and what a man could actually become and do. You will hear from and about famous musicians and protesters like Arlo Guthrie and Abbie Hoffman It was a time of brilliance, pain & decadence. It's one of the most historical years in our history.

so if you are wondering about these times, or just want to take a look back then take a trip back in time with Tom Brokaw.

Documentary on Historic Year Limited Mostly To USA
lchadbou-326-2659230 September 2018
It is hard to cover a year where so many dramatic events occurred, as with 1968, without becoming superficial. The program mostly limits itself to what happened here in America (except for one reference to the Mexico City Olympics and a bit toward the end on Paris and Prague) though the argument could be made that in order to understand this particular year you need to grasp the sense of worldwide rebellion which would even include things like the ongoing Cultural Revolution in China. The show also fails to clarify why 1968 was a turning point,as opposed to other years in the decade of the 196os.But I like the way Brokaw highlights the less well known Orangeburg massacre that February where 3 students were killed by police, 3 years before the more famous Kent State killings. The footage of the train carrying Senator Robert Kennedy,s body from New York to DC, with crowds gathered all along the way to pay their respects, is especially moving.
