The raft of the Medusa remains, in my case, one of the most impressive paintings and the masterpiece of Theodore Gericauld.
The story behind it is not new for me.
But the documentary gives, in wise manner, beautiful perspectives about the terrible experience of people in that July 1816, about historical context of disaster and about the motives and the documentation and the hard work of Gericauld to tell, in image, the experience of Medusa people.
The end is fair one. Because any reproduction of raft can explain the tragedy of people. Not only for the different conditions but for the survive as purpose , feeding the instincts, fear and self conservation in wild expressions.
So, useful documentary. In profound sense.
