Frankenstein TV
gilleliath8 April 2022
In spite of all his success Stateside, it seems like GR is pretty anxious to break back into prime-time British TV - this is his second attempt. I like him for that. The BBC, for its part, is desperate for new formats in that 9pm slot. But it's not so easy to come up with ones that work; hence this strange hybrid of Hell's Kitchen and The Apprentice which in more prosperous times - and if it was fronted by anyone else - would have been introduced gently, at teatime on BBC2.

The problem it has is that viewers have such a clear idea what they want from him and from food-related shows. People ask, what has jumping out of helicopters got to do with food? Well, what has directing terrible TV ads, appearing on shopping channels or buying a glass teapot in Marrakesh got to do with being in business? Nobody blenches when these ludicrous tasks are set on The Apprentice. Essentially the premise here is the same, a dozen hopeless eejits squabbling for our entertainment. But because it's Gordon, we feel it really ought to be about the food and so most of what the contestants do seems pointless.

No-one surpasses him at people management, and you see that when he's giving the contestants their feedback. But that's why his best show is Kitchen Nightmares, the old episodes of which are still being endlessly repeated on E4. That's what I'd like to see him back doing.

Not ONE likable contestant... and I'm four episodes in

Warning: Spoilers
I love Gordon's shows. They capture the human spirit, they're entertaining, they tug at the heartstrings, and my favorite part is picking one (or more) likable "characters" that I'd love to see win.

I don't see one person that even comes close. Okay, MAYBE Tony, but even he loves to play the victim.

Every single character are spoiled, entitled snowflakes. Even the one that survived a terminal illness is hard to root for.

You heart my feelings. Check.

I don't feel validated. Check.

You're so rude. Check.

I even get a general malaise of "I am woman, hear me roar, and I'm waiting for someone to use the term "mansplaining" in a sentence. I sense this is coming quite soon.

Even Gordon seems subdued like he's taking it easy on these "sensitive" millennials.

Get some better contestants and the show would be palatable, but with these whiny criers, I'm sending this back to the kitchen.

Oh no, this Karen outlook seems to be rubbing off on me.

Hard going
Drabble50030 April 2022
I've continued watching this but it's hard going, often pretty dull. The main problem is that it's so derivative from The Apprentice but does everything far worse: lacking the tension. Gordon seems like a nice chap but half the fun of the Apprentice is that Lord Sugar comes across as a fierce mogul whom all the candidates fear.

I could go on but tbh I feel like I can't be bothered. And that's the problem. This is really pretty dull.

Edit. Having just watched the latest episode, this is getting worse. I had to skip through sections as it's becoming unwatchable.

Brilliant
I love the shows and can't stop watching them. It's a shame, though, that Valentina comes across as being so jealous of Michelle - a bit like Cinderella and her jealous sisters!

Bad. Really Bad.
toyl-9229720 April 2022
So, Gordon wants to find a future food star. So far, so good. Then it's all downhill from there. So how have they done it, and more importantly, how have they done it so badly?

I suppose it's a cocktail. It's a mixture of GR with his claws buffed away, it's the Apprentice format to generate "point and laugh" failures, but even that is not enough. Dear me no.

So what's the final element........it's a food and drink show, but it needs a twist. You might think that simply being chucked into unfamiliar food and drink arenas would be that final twist.....everyone getting a chance to be a fish out of water. You'd be wrong.

Cue Mr Ramsey attempting to channel his inner Ant Middleton. Let's freak them. Let's subject them to some SAS Who Dares Wins frighteners.

So what does that heady mix of badly thought through concepts give us? A mess, that's what. An unmitigated disaster of a programme not worth one penny more of TV licence money.

Thankfully, stuff like this is likely to kill off much of reality TV, so it's not all bad. Series 2 anyone? Hopefully not. This is drivel of the worst kind.

Very fun & enjoying

Binging this show now! It's so good I can't put it down. Unfortunately I have to watch it on YouTube, it is highly entertaining and engaging.

Every episode is new and inviting & really open up every field.

They need to put this show back on. I mean seriously. From apps to wines to party events. I also think it highlights SO MANY companies and people beyond the win. I will be buying from some of these brands that I never heard of, and I'm so glad I did.

It's very eye opening to see how certain businesses are ran and this show not only is enlightening but, it is also a learning opportunity for the owners themselves. How to handle and promote so they can expand their brand and quality.

Gordon Ramsay's Future Food Stars
studioAT16 April 2022
"Guys, The Apprentice is ending, we need a copy cat show that's different enough for people to not notice".

And so 'Gordon Ramsay's Future Food Stars was born, and yes, we did notice.

It's not bad, goodness knows it's better than Ramsay's attempts at being a game show host (shudder at the memory), but this is The Apprentice with cooking, and it doesn't work.

Nonsensical Challenges, Too Many Strong Personalities
qitalwhiz31 May 2022
The premise of the show did not match up with the challenges whatsoever.

The cooking challenges, I somewhat understood because they were diverse and thought the contestants various things, but challenges like crawling thru a cave, and diving off a cliff, were pretty pointless.

My main issue with this show was the personalities, so many powerful contestants had little opportunity to shine due to loud mouths who threw a tantrum if things did not go their way, then throw their teammate under the bus later when their loud-mouthing didn't pay off.

Not a bad show to binge, but I wouldn't recommend it as a interesting watch, show could've been better if half the contestants were different, and the challenges were more consistent.

Very happy with who won in the end tho, at least they didn't mess that up.

Would've been 5 out of 10 if Valentina (the vegan) was eliminated much earlier, very obnoxious, loud and conniving.

Really poor
jackieeade28 April 2022
Gordan Ramsey thinks he's Alan Sugar! It doesn't work Gordan. I think he should go back to the kitchen as this isn't his best. The show is trying to be a food version of apprentice but it's lacking big time.

The Generation game meets, the apprentice
ihyjfnjh26 April 2023
Why does a baker (Amy) need to demonstrate that they can roll Sushi after a demonstration (generation game) or blend vodka and market it (the apprentice) did licence payers money pay for this ?

Then there is the product placement, Black lion 'award winning' vodka, this seems to have been an award given by a very small publishing company in the UK, not an international award,

Gordon Ramsey tries to be taken on the role of Alan Sugar investing his money in a food brand, but the constants appear to looking around for guidance. Maybe I am missing the point, but this has been so many times before,

Unwatchable

Please just put Gordon back in a kitchen.

This is rubbish, full of idiots doing idiotic things. I do wonder how they find such annoying people...

Gordon is much too good for this embarrassment.

Oh dear..

Well it just doesn't make any sense. I'm half way through and they're all muppets... I generally lap up all Gordon's shows but this is truly painful. The concept of the show just doesn't work.

Dull
adrianball659 May 2022
I hated this. Hackneyed format, dreadful unendearing contestants, inauthentic challenges, too much 'planet youguys, false tension. Just shambolic.

I managed 20 minutes of viewing... enough already. FFS GET A GRIP!

So many unlikeable candidates with zero growth along the way
nivedita-mehta21 May 2022
I really couldn't be bothered who won and who didn't as nobody in this show was someone you would emotionally invest in-there was no journey to go on and see anyone and transform for the better. Bleh.

A biased challenge
Mohamad02116 April 2023
An absolute garbage of a show. Too many strong personalities who never worked in a kitchen day in their lives. The one who own a food business gets eliminated and the ones with no prior food experience stays in so in the end they brag how an underdog won the show.

You may think they have chosen different professions to battle it out for the title. However the challengers are solely based on their weakness... because if at the end few pro chefs battle it out, then it will require a lot more episodes. So, they eliminate good chefs and they keep people with no food experience ' who can only read order' and that is how they get far by staying on the low. Then at the end a fairly experienced beats the no experience therefore wins the show.

How is that a good show.. how is that fair.

Gordon ramsay seem not to be controlled by the script which is a shame.
