Fun to watch, but not overly fun.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm glad all the women did not look alike and neither did the men. In many other movies, all the actors look alike, and that's very annoying. I have questions. How was this young couple able to buy such a nice house? Wouldn't a house this opulent have security cameras that would have captured the attack on the gardner, as well as some of the other shenanigans that went on? Is Morgan a bad actress or was it just bad directing? How come every time I get slammed in the head with a hammer, I don't get up? When you know there's a psycho out there, wouldn't you have already locked all the doors and not wait until she's there? Overall the movie was fair despite some stupid scenes and my complaints.

Killer Dream Home

This was a typical Lifetime movie. Full of cheese, deliberate over-acting, and plastic surgery. Like I said, typical, which I've come to expect from this genre.

What bothered me the most is the actress, Morgan, who plays the "villain". Like I said, I'm used to gross over-acting that Lifetime movies are notoriously known for, but the actress playing this part was so over-dramatic, it was painful:

1. She looks about 20 years older (I may be exaggerating, but, hey, I can do it too), than the couple she's trying to manipulate by flirting with the husband. A totally unbelievable maneuver. 2. She is not attractive at all, and the fact that she walks around acting like she is just cements that fact. 3. She swings her shoulders and hips so hard through the whole movie, she doesn't need a different weapon to kill anyone.

To sum up, again, EVERYONE in this movie is over the top, and the plot is as predictable as it sounds. The house itself could act circles around all of them. The husband has been addressed plenty in other reviews, so I won't go into him too harshly. At least I could tolerate his goofiness. Morgan, on the other hand, was unbearable, and made me realize that there is such a thing as "over"-overacting, even if it's a Lifetime movie.

I would have liked this movie, except for one thing..

I was not able to finish this movie for one reason: Morgan's awful laugh. I only see one other review that mentions her laugh. It was so irritating and she was constantly laughing. I had to turn it off. I think I would have enjoyed this movie otherwise.

This movie was awful

I thought that this movie was just awful. The acting was not good especially the woman who played Morgan. I only watched it because it was in the highlights in my weekly TV guide. I am now reminded why I rarely watch movies on Lifetime.

Terrible

This movie was bad. I found the acting and the characters to be utterly annoying. The guy who played in the movie was a complete airhead for a dude. The psycho was not sexy even though she was trying so hard. This movie and many more are examples of how bad lifetime movies have become. These days movies cast actors who are on crack rather then talent. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Terrible Acting
asrichmond5 April 2020
The story and scenery was okay but most of the acting was awful, especially the Jules character. She came across as very fake with all the silly grinning and goofiness and would have been better in a comedy or disney film. The Bliss character was silly and goofy as well. The hunk husband Josh role was totally miscast. Morgan's character was okay and I really liked both of the realtor characters and the gay neighbor lawyer character. I don't recommend wasting your time watching this and I watch every new Lifetime movie and rarely give a bad review.

Lifetime does it again

Warning: Spoilers
Another C level flick from a channel that used to tell decent stories involving women. So so many questions with this: 1) why was Morgan so obsessed with the house and did she really think killing the owners would allow her to own it? 2) how was she gonna afford a multi million dollar home on an executive assistants salary 3) why was the main couple so naive (they let a complete stranger move in with them, without ever checking references?) 4) the big standoff was weak, Morgan has a "gun" she only shoots once and a hammer she swings twice, and a dangerous measuring tape! If u want to laugh at how ridiculous lifetime has become, watch because it's loads of laughs

Crazy Woman!
kyleallencole912 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Eve Mauro played an excellent villain in this one. She deceptively becomes an interior designer for this couple who purchase this lavish mansion and she is personally tied to the home and will do anything to steal it from them. She is definitely charming and a fun one to be around, but hides her inner psychotic rage. She murders people who get in her way or find out about her real identity. Brooke Butler did an excellent job in this one as well as the young couples good friend and co worker. She sees right through the psycho woman from the beginning. Another factor the movie had, was the mansion. This place was so remarkable and gorgeous, it even has an elevator inside the home. This lifetime thriller has used this plot before, but to have a villain like this one, made it even better!

What if a Disney Channel TV Show Movie became a boderline soft-core thriller...

Warning: Spoilers
Don't wonder...watch this. The lines, jokes, jabs, characters, friendships, are all something that seems barely adulted up from a bad Hannah Montana episode. The first remotely ominous thing that happens is at around 52 minutes, which is 2/3 into the movie.

On the plus side, John Deluca looks great in this film. I like the buff, handsome, look combined with the David Cassidy hair.

I'm glad his character's worry about the villain's inappropriate behavior did not prevent him from having a conversation with her in the kitchen while shirtless.

Here's wishing John better projects in the future.

I liked this one

"Killer Dream House" gave me pretty much everything I want in a Lifetime movie. It has a likable cast. They all do a nice job. The story was good and kept my interest. It didn't have a rushed climax the way many of Lifetime's movies do. I liked "Killer Dream House" and I will watch it again the next time it is on.

Warning: Spoilers
I have been watching more Lifetime movies than ever this last year working from home, so I know not to expect much from the vast majority of them. They are easy background noise and entertainment. However, this one does provoke some questions as I watch:

-It's always funny how they use these huge homes clearly on large properties yet they don't show the "estate" grounds. What's the point of using such a huge property? Not even a montage! Some of these homes/sets are really nice and it would be great to see them. If it's a budgetary issue, maybe swap the shots of the skyline for some interior shots lol

-If they are both architects, wouldn't they already know an interior designer or two? Wouldn't the realtor of homes this extravagant already work with one she could recommend?

-People who fake sexual assaults disgust me. Morgan does it twice (maybe three times if you count her blackmail photos of her landlord)

-The designer and Jules' first convo was so awkward. She's extremely unprofessional, sharing entirely too much about her life story. Who moves in with a client? Her landlord is a sleaze but how does this mean you don't owe your rent and he deserves to be blackmailed?

-Related to that...it's not even clear she knows as much about the home as Jules (the wife). Wouldn't Morgan need to appear to be obsessed with the home for this movie to make sense? It would have been interesting if she was decorating the house in her "image" since she planned to make an offer on it (and later kill for it). Think Dorian Gray with how the more immoral he became the more monstrous the painting became (sorry for the spoiler but that movie is like 80 years old). I don't recall seeing her actually make many suggestions or show her work, but a manifestation of her obsession would have added a layer to the movie.

-Who moves a literal stranger into their home with no questions asked? Lifetime never makes this plot point believable and there has to be a better way to set up these stories without making the protags blatantly stupid.

-Th script should have made this couple A-list actors (in the movie) or maybe Silicone Valley types with a ton of money. Nothing about them explains this house. They've also added zero personal touches to it which again, is strange if they are both into architecture.

-The husband has the best hair in the movie. How can we take him seriously when he's shirtless all the time? Lol.. I am glad that he told his wife Morgan came on to him AND that he told her to leave instead of keeping it a secret.

-I like how she "falls" off the ladder, threatens to sue (starting to show her crazy) and yet she stands up straight, keeps her stilettos on, and literally sashays out of the house lol

-They are finally looking into her background like they should have done in the first place. The backstory given doesn't translate into murderous obsession with this house in my opinion. The villain can't want this house without killing for it?

-The homes in these movies NEVER have security systems or cameras unless they are used as a plot point. This is a gated community. SURELY, they have security measures in place.

-Anticlimactic ending. There's a gun and yet nobody uses it. They clearly used the nail gun (cringe) so they could show her shot

This review is tongue in cheek. I didn't hate the movie. Passable tv movie but likely not one I'll watch again.

"Our Forever Home"
lavatch1 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The home at 1438 Maple Street is apparently one to kill for. At least, that is the perspective of Morgan Dyer, who will stop at nothing to get her clutches on the home recently purchased by Jules and Josh Dyer.

Morgan had been the executive assistant and the lover of the previous home owner, Don Maples. After Don broke off their affair, he suddenly died. Later, Beverly Maples died in her bathtub with assistance from Morgan. Now, Morgan is passing herself off as an interior designer as she hatches another evil plan to wrest the home away from Jules and Josh.

A problem with "Killer Dream Home" was that Jules and Josh were such nice and trusting people that it was disheartening to see them afflicted by the evil Morgan. Another likable character, the realtor Renée Rivera was such a kind person that it was depressing when Morgan killed her.

My favorite character was the sassy Bliss Leary, the friend of Jules and Josh. Bliss is the first person to recognize that Morgan is a complete phony. There is one great scene where Bliss is laughing in Morgan's face while she points a loaded gun her way. Nothing can deter the intrepid Bliss, who will play a key role in ensuring that her best friends have their "forever home."

Quite good, really!

Jules and her hubby flip houses. They are interested in one spectacular mansion that also has one Morgan interested. Morgan poses an interior designer to help Jules with the sale but also has ulterior motives. You will have to watch the movie to see what she does next. Very well written script. Eve Mauro does a great job as the 'baddie'! Good plot and Highly recommended.
