A great little movie
fegley20 June 2008
An excellent documentary following the journey of a 17 year-old porter as he carries a broken coca-cola refrigerator from a small village high in the Himalayas to the city for repairs. During the course of the trip, we learn of his family, hear of the barriers to education in rural Nepal, meet folks in small villages, and learn about porters who can carry up to 200 lbs on their backs to get by, shuttling goods from town to town and the backpacks of tourists. Beautifully shot and edited, the film never gets too heavy (no pun intended) but is a great slice of life with humor and a message. The subject of the film is an admirable person, with great ambitions and seeming abilities, but limited due to his poverty. I hope this gets to a wider audience.

An exceptional journey

An exceptional journey that not only introduces us to an unknown and beautiful country and its people, but does so in a film made with a joyful and happy manner. The filmmakers have understood poverty, yet show hope for a change for the better. Although showing the burden and suffering of the 60,000 porter children in Nepal this film proves that there is more power in hope than in lamenting and complaining. A fact that also makes this film a good example for encouraging a positive attitude in filmmaking.
