A pretty bad start to a fairly mediocre series

I'm not a huge fan of Sabrina's Secret Life, mainly due to the changes that DIC did to it just so it could be classified as an E/I show, which I find ironic as Sabrina: The Animated Series was also an E/I show and the characters were good.

So anyways in this episode, Greendale High School is holding a High School Dance and Sabrina is excited, while her friend Maritza hasn't got a date yet. Eventually, we see Harvey playing with a water fountain and accidentally sprays Mrs. Magrooney.

During the night before the dance, Sabrina is testing on dresses while Salem is annoying her and eventually Sabrina has a fantasy with Harvey as they dance together while Salem talks and talks. This ends up to Sabrina kicking Salem into the screen.

After this, Sabrina calls Harvey, who for some reason acts all braindead, and along the way Maritza calls Sabrina, where she suggests to Sabrina that she could just ask in person.

The next morning, Cassandra notices Harvey and attempts to ask him to be her date, to which Meritza stops her. However, Harvey forgets who he wants to be his date and says "Yes", to which Sabrina thinks that Meritza is going with Harvey.

After school, Meritza tries to reason with Sabrina but she jumps to the conclusion that she thinks she's going out with Harvey and leaves her in a huff. In the car, Sabrina explains to Hilda and Zelda what happens. Back at home, Sabrina is so depressed that she feels so sick about it and gets a mortal. Salem tries to help her but gets interrupted by Cassandra.

At Witch School, Cassandra decides to plan revenge on Meritza and lures Sabrina into helping her. As they make the potion, Enchantra then appears to stop the girls after they tell her what their plan is, but then she thinks it's a great idea and gives her a dragon. What Sabrina doesn't know is that Cassandra wants to use it on Sabrina for being what she is...

Afterwards, Sabrina gets her dress on and finds a date in the form of a transformed Salem. Eventually we head into the School Dance; as they head through the doors Sabrina meets up with Cassandra and her date, which is actually just her pet rabbit transformed into a human, like with Salem.

When Meritza and Harvey enter, the dance begins and Cassandra uses her spell to humiliate her by changing her hair to look silly, meatball her dress and burn up her hair. She runs out of the door crying while Harvey goes after her. Sabrina (and Salem) then finds out what really happened and she goes off after Cassandra.

Cassandra alone is still wanting to humiliate Meritza and so she decides to use the Grape punch to soak her. Sabrina then pushes her out of the way and so she gets soaked instead, to which Cassandra is pretty mad. Sabrina spoils another one of her revenge tricks by hitting herself with the disco ball. Cassandra then gets really ticked off with Sabrina for ruining her revenge on Meritza, and tries to shrink her down to size with the magic dragon, although this backfires thanks to the disco ball and transforms her and her transformed pet rabbit into mice instead.

After this disaster, Enchantra appears and freezes time, and tells Sabrina the episode's moral: "Trust your Friends". Eventually, everything goes back to normal, with Salem dancing with Meritza and Sabrina finally getting to be with Harvey.

And that's the end.

Overall, think this episode is pretty bad. Firstly, why would Sabrina think Maritza betrayed her just because she asked Harvey to go to the dance? All she did was try to stop Cassandra and Sabrins just went on a "Jumping to Conclusions" attitude with her. Secondly, Sabrina treats this dance so seriously and is depressed just because her date isn't Harvey. So the heck what? You could have gone out with someone else! The dance itself doesn't feel all that exciting other than the mess that happens alongside that. I just felt sorry for Meritza for how badly she was treated throughout this episode by not just Sabrina, but by Cassandra as well. Cassandra also ruined the whole night with her magic, but at least she got what she deserved at the end when her shrinking spell backfired. Some of the scenes featured like Sabrina's mortal depression was just pointless filler that wasn't really needed.

As for the good points: Salem's human disguise indeed looks fine and dandy, and seeing Sabrina kicking Salem into the screen in the fantasy sequence makes for a funny fourth wall break.

Still, the good points don't make how bad this episode is. It's not worth your time watching.
