A very mediocre story with below average acting. Many actors lack conviction as if they werent paid in full. The series mostly resembles the concept of CID/Abhay where one crime is solved in an episode and another main crime story encapsulates them but are unrelated.

Good, but, could have been better

Well, most probably this is my first watching of a series plotted in Kolkata. Most of the actors and actresses are from tollywood and they did really good in "Lalbazaar." No doubt.
Story is convincing somehow. Though there were some weak links in the stoty. But, I shouldn't disclose them now. They may contain spoilrers. But, I hope, loopholes in the narration will be covered up in next season. As, this is not the end (following the name of last episode of the series. Bit cliche!)
So, I liked the acting and I liked the story. This is confirm from my stated above words. So, what didn't l like? Yes, now, come to the point. I didn't like the way of telling the story. The screenplay or specifically, executions was not that top notch. Climax could have been more nail biting, more like "adrenalin rush." Didn't happen.
That is something I missed.
Overall, a good series. I must say. But, there were lot of grounds to improve. Hopefully, it will be done in next future.
Best wishes to the team, at least for thinking about something by keeping Kolkata in mind.
You can watch "Lalbazaar", definitely.

Average!! Disappointment...

The story had a potential to be a top crime drama!! But the screenplay, dialougues and direction is so average and predictable! Lead cast is below average...only few performances were impactful. Crime petrol or saavdhan india is sometimes better than this.
Totally not recommended!!

Utter waste of time

Sub mideocre script, poor screenplay, pathetic direction. Too many subplots which the director failed miserably to connect. The cast was good but failed to deliver,I don't blame them for that it's obvious. Total waste of time.

pathetic - Cheap - C grade production / you won't be able to waste your time beyond 1-2 episodes
saxenarohitk19 June 2020
I don't need to write much...just try to watch 1st episode and you will get to know how cheaply created pathetic series is this. Till now not a single good movie/series from Ajay Devgn production house (you may exclude parched). After making 20+ movies and TV series he should have learnt that his taste in film making is pathetic. All other reviews are fake, posted by production house team, you may guess it easily by looking at the usernames of those review posters. All reviews are of 1-2 lines. I don't know how come the fine actors like Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and Dibyendu Bhattacharya accepted to work in this series.
WATCH ANYTHING BUT THIS SERIES!!!

Fire who ever done the sound then it deserve a 7

Its a good crime thriller but the sound was a voice over and it was stitched in such a manner the joke will feel like "time to put a joke in". The overall story is good but the making of the series is not good. this is a surprise cause typically these series have good making and bad stories. this time it is the other way around.
Bilkul Tatti Series

Not upto the mark of Expectation
koushikdasgupta28 June 2020
Accually the script and screenplay is not so good, it's not so easy to solve cases which is taking by Lalbazar in reality but in here It's too easy to catch the criminal, even I felt more thrilled to watching the CID episodes. Koushik sen as usual very good actor.I think he carried the whole series on his own shoulder.
Dragged Action Thriller with no USP

Lal Bazaar is more like a CID Episodes bundled in a series. From the first episode itself you know who are potentially involved in the crime. So my point is why do you need a 10 episode when story could have been folded in 6 -7 episodes of max 35 mins? The buildup to show police force as a potent force did nothing to add to the excitement or helped the story. So unnecessary additions of episodes as I said.Editing leaves a lot to be desired. And writer, directors too has to take fair share of criticism for not being able to present the series that could be gripping.
Throughout the 10 episodes we have unnecessary murders which have no connection to the case police force has been after. The last episode was fast-paced and all the layers of the murders came out within those 34 -40 mins. The Acting is good ,location not that great. But that's not enough for viewers to spend binge watching, and it's not the end.
Remarkable performance

Lalbazar (S1) makes for a compelling watch but could have been more nail biting

ACP Suranjan Sen (Kaushik Sen) leads a team of investigators at the Homicide Cell of the Kolkata Police Headquarters, Lalbazar. He has been fighting demons from his past of an incident where he bumped off eight members of a mafia gang in a bid for self protection, later labelled as an indiscriminate act of revenge for the death of one of his proteges. He is successful, has a reputation and therefore has other colleagues envious of his stature and good offices with the DCP B. D. Sharma (Sabyasachi Chakraborty). Sen's team is a mix of experienced and newbie officers, boasting of energy and drive.
The murder of a pregnant sex worker Ruby in the Watgunj PS area, where Sen was an officer when the shootout took place long ago rattles the local police authorities who start investigating the case being made to look like a suicide. It's evident that there's a cover up in process as the investigating officer Sabir's (Gaurav Chakraborty) daughter is kidnapped. Then the alleged kidnapper is apprehended by the police but let off due to a lack of evidence, and then he is shot dead because he starts cooperating with the investigators. Matters turn murkier when Ruby's corpse goes missing from the morgue and more murders follow. The needle of suspicion is directed to an influential mafia gang leader Ghazi (Dibyendu Bhattacharya), but his citadel is invincible.
Whilst the Watgunj PS murders turn into a central theme, the Homicide team at Lalbazar works on a number of murder cases and ACP Sen keeps building his reputation as an effective and result oriented leader, much to the chagrin of ACP Port, Gaurav Dutta (Subrat Dutta) who is clearly jealous of the former's success. The central theme murder case, albeit not under the purview of the Lalbazar Homicide team suddenly dovetails into it due to an unavoidable situation that implicates ACP Suranjan Sen, and must be taken to its logical conclusion.
Lalbazar is a series made on the model of Criminal Minds and other similar successful franchises, although there's a long way to go in regard to the depth of research, criminal psychology and investigative excellence. It's a great start with a fair amount of glitz and glamour, a myriad of homicide cases with different motives perhaps adapted from real police files. The central murder mystery is somewhat predictable and could have been handled in a more compact, high octane and thrilling finale rather than its dialogue driven, dramatic unfolding. Lalbazar nevertheless makes for a compelling watch, even if you think that the investigators seemingly solve complex murder cases with relative ease.

Absolute filth
coldfirex-2383321 June 2020
I understand that its 18+, still I dont understand why so much unnecessary filth forced into it. How does forcing filth makes it for better viewing? It looked so promising but it soon fizzled out. It could have been so much more. It had the pretext of being an absolute crime thriller, yet they made a mess of it. The characters are good but some average acting and direction let the series down. I was really looking forward to this series only to be let down. Doing a bar dance sequence, was it really required? A cops x-rated dialogues with his wife, again required? How this helps the narrative? Avoid.
very fascinating.
