If this operation really happened during a sea battle, lot of unpredictable things might have happened. Many guns suddenly jammed or malfunctioned without obvious reasons only showed poor maintenance and lack of correct working procedures. The carry-out shooting sequences also showed a poor synchronized order. All the navy guys on the ships didn't show any seriousness to this operation.
It took so many ships to come in the range to shoot the target one after another, but no ship really did the fatal damage quickly until it had taken too many canon bullets from many attacking ships. What a joke.
