Miss Marple begins seeing Village life.

There is something wonderfully addictive about this series, sure it's not to everyone's taste, and maybe a yawn fest for today's audiences, but the stories, characters and actors are a joy.

Pie in the Sky is another gem of an episode, the story so small and insignificant, but it's the relationships and complexities of the characters that make it so engrossing. The local ladies compete for the top prize, the best pie in the county, but all is not well for organiser Ursula, as the wrong sort enter, and there's decent in the ranks.

Just lovely to watch, Joan Hickson is magical, being a Miss Marple addict you see why she was cast, such a strong, commanding actress, softly spoken but tough, she's marvellous. As is John Le Mesurier , filmed during his time on Dad's Army, what a prolific and hard working actor he was, he's fantastic too.

Definitely some great humour, cracking drama. 8/10
