A film one must watch!
hello-009642 January 2024
Watched this film at the Intl Film Festival of Kerala after having followed this film for quite sometime after its festival accolades. The wait was so worth it! The performances, direction, script, sound everything was just fabulous and I was extremely impressed by the storytelling. Adil's performance really makes you feel part of the story and I enjoyed seeing Nimisha Sajayan in a totally unexpected character - which she totally rocked! The positive audience reviews are a testament to this film's quality. Some parts were truly heart wrenching, makes one think. It's important to tell stories that are not usually discussed - 10/10 from me!

Best Film of the Year

This is the most touching and beautiful film i saw this year. I was lucky enough to watch it in the presence of Adil Hussain sir who I've had the fortune to do a podcast with in the past and i just now down for the portrayal of Raghu ( the character he played ) each and every detail was superbly shown and I think a of credit should go to the brilliant debut director Nathalia Syam ma'am who has effortlessly wowen this story of a father and daughter and how they face this trouble of being exploited being illegal migrants in UK. It really touched my heart. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate a heartwarming perfomance given by Nimisha who played the daughter along with this I would like to appreciate the efforts of the debutant writer Neetha Syam ma'am who has perfectly researched on this subject and written a fantastic story. Kudos to the producers Mohan sir and Ketaki ma'am for backing a subject like this too. I was lucky enough to catch it at the G20 film festival and i hope it gets a worldwide release in cinemas and a OTT platform.

Poignant and Engrossing!

I had the privilege of watching Footprints on Water at the Atlanta Indian Film Festival, and I would say that the experience was surreal. It left me in awe of a brilliant technique of storytelling that is unbelievably poignant and engrossing.

The film undoubtedly belongs to Adil Hussain who does an outstanding job. The dialogues he delivers and the feelings he emotes are done with a finesse that is at its pinnacle. He is ably supported by actors Nimisha Sajayan, Danny Sura and Antonio Akeel who excel by doing justice to their parts.

Footprints on Water is Nathalia Syam's debut feature film, and the story delves into a wide range of feelings. Cruelty, duplicity, anger, frustration, and even kindness are among the varied themes explored. All of these mesh together in a film with a serious, sensitive strain that is its soul. Nathalia truly succeeds in handling such a complex subject with great maturity and fine artistry. This is a director who definitely shows promise to knit meaningful content into powerful cinema.

Great story telling.

Was fortunate to watch this wonderful film when it premiered in the British Film Institute. A heart wrenching story of a father and a daughter - both the actors portrayed their characters so well- there are certain scenes that overwhelms you with emotions.

The BGM was well integrated and complemented the visuals on screen. The entire film, from first to last scene, was brilliantly shot and kudos to the director, Nathalia who has mastered the art of story telling in her first movie. The small twists in the film adds intermediate doses of surprise to the story.

Cant wait for the movie to hit the screens worldwide, so it reaches a larger audience.
