We're still stuck with Walt and he's still a scumbag. Trolling 12 step fellowships for people to bust is about as low as a federal agent can go and Walt is luxuriating in it. This series has managed to paint DEA agents as psychopaths, or at least sociopaths. Is that what the aim of the writers had been? Is the job description being a liar and ruining the lives of small time nonentities while allowing the violent men you're supposed to be after, get away with doing what they like?
Breslin goes at everything crabwise, avoiding confrontation with violent criminals and busting the least harmful players he can find. I find myself hoping to see him fired or jailed himself.
Luis Gerardo Mendez shines as Victor Tapia, a corrupt Juarez policeman who gets sidetracked into looking for a young girl who has become a victim of the Juarez serial killers who target young women. Mendez is a well known TV actor in Mexico and is very good in his role. There are lots of story arcs starting up in this season opener. So far, so good with season 3.
