In a perplexing set of mysteries fit for James Bond himself . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . Eon Production Company saddles this piece with the virtually incomprehensible title IAN FLEMING ON DESERT ISLAND DISCS and credits the interviewer as being a 20-year-old Michael G. Wilson (there is no "narrator" to provide any context to this riddle ramble). First of all, I know what 20-year-olds sound like, and James Bond novelist Ian Fleming definitely is NOT being quizzed by such a young whippersnapper here. (The Q&A of this piece indicates that it was recorded shortly after Fleming visited the set of FROM RU$$IA WITH LOVE in Istanbul in early 1963, and Wilson was born in 1943.) The other main puzzle is exactly to WHAT do the "discs" of the title refer? Was Mr. Fleming being harassed by Flying Saucers disgorging Little Green Men as he scribbled away at his Jamaican "Goldeneye" retreat? Is this a typo for the "Desert Island Discos" where Ian may have spent some of the 20 hours daily when he was NOT penning Bond books? Did "Q" provide Ian with writable CDs decades before their time? Or could it be a clumsy, idiosyncratic, Anglic abbreviation for "discussion?" I would not take anyone's answer for this other than Agent 007--he knows it all!
