Watching The '56 Fire from the rear view mirror is a luxury. As a former volunteer firefighter living near tank farms, I can see that we learned so many lessons from what the men in these two fire departments experienced during the explosion in Dumas County. The loss of so many was horrific, but the lessons learned have saved thousands. This film is an informative documentary, and I'm sure was helpful for the people involved to talk about publicly, honoring their loved ones in such a meaningful way. It is a sometimes slow paced and the filming techniques are often a bit amateur, but overall it's a good picture, especially if you like documentaries and appreciate first hand accounts from people who were there.
