Had given up watching, but I'm snowed in, so why not see if things have improved? The mayor was finally smart and mayor-like. Hokky Hunter is wated un this show. Hard to believe I'm watching the same atress who carried Saving Grace. Both she and Ted are capable of more.

Avocado Crisis

There is a shortage of Avocado, one of the most popular fruit in Los Angeles.
Lack of water means that Avocado are not growing in abundance. It has resulted in mass panic and gihts in the supermarket which Mayor Bremer witnesses at first hand.
The mayor meets Adolphus Hass (Beau Bridges) the largest grower of Avocados in LA. A man not short of folksy wisecracks.
A handout from the mayor's office could be the key. Hass could bring over water from Seattle. They have plenty of it.
Mayor Bremer does not want to throw taxpayers money at the issue. It is a Bridges too fat for hi. Even at the risk of damaging his popularity as his administration nears its first 100 days.
This is probably the first time I felt convinced that Bremer acted like the mayor. He suspects that Hass is a flim flam man who wants a government handout which he will pocket.
The satire of greedy corporate farmers worked. Helped by Beau Bridges performance.
It was better than the weak side plot regarding Mikaela's insomnia.
