One thing I like about this episode is it shows the dark, cloudy rainy skies of England in all its glory. It adds to the authenticity of England for sure.
It's a shame Bill Nighy, the narrator, doesn't appear in any of the episodes. He would cut a dashing figure dispensing bon mots to passengers and crew, musing on the meaning of life.
I saw some people on the platforms wearing face masks, but none of the passengers did. Although some of the train crew did.
The train stops in a rainy Carlisle, a place I've visited before. Here we are taken to Carlisle Cathedral. John Robson takes us to the Undercroft as well. I would have liked to seen more of the underprivileged areas such as Botchergate and Morton Park.
The Shooting Assistant Producers for this episode - James Campbell and Charlotte Keyte.
