I know you can probably think of a few movies or shows that were fantastic but then were completely ruined by the ending. This is the exact opposite. While it's mostly boring and poorly paced throughout and you don't really care about the characters, the ending is somehow so good in spite of what comes before. I'd say overall.. 6.5 out of 10. I'll say 7 though.

Is different good or bad? Depends on the preference of the viewer, and my preference was... a mixed bag. The art style, after watching ones like 'The Duel' and 'The Ninth Jedi' was a step down, visually, in my opinion (they're professionals, they can take a critic). If I had to pick one episode of Visions to recreate, I'd bank on my own limited artistic abilities to be best suited to making Akakiri. I just couldn't appreciate the hand drawn aesthetic as much in this one when I was spoiled on the more CGier ones previously. However, where this episode shines is the plot. Tsubaki was intriguing as a main character, making me want to know more about his and the princess' backstory. His aversion to the concept that anything is destined or predetermined seemed to imply experience with such notions that were traumatizing. The vision he has as well pays off nicely to an unexpected ending that bodes for a very interesting future, should this plotline ever get expanded or explained further (though I'm still holding out hope for Ninth Jedi). I should watch this in English next time, and see how Henry Golding sounds as a Jedi. Overall, not a fan of the art (the score likewise, was somewhat intrusive and obnoxious in my opinion), but enjoyed the plot.

"Star Wars Visions" saves one of its better episodes for last with an interesting adaptation of a one of the saga's key moments.
Tsubaki (Henry Golding) arrives back on his home planet, looking to reunite with Princess Misa (Jamie Chung). Tsubaki though is plagued by an affliction, that strikes at times of stress and which causes him to fall to the floor wracked in pain. Rescued from assailants by Misa, Kamahachi (Keone Young) and Senshuu (George Takei) the four plan to journey to the Princesses palace and face down Masago (Lorraine Toussaint) a Sith Lady who has infiltrated the palace and taken control.
This was one of the better stories of the series and the artwork matched it. It's not difficult to see where the story might be heading from an early stage though, of course, they might have switched the ending around for a different outcome. There are nods to "Hidden Fortress" with Kamahachi and Senshuu acting like the original inspirations for R2D2 and C-3PO.
This was the only episode of the series to directly tackle an element of the films head on and I'm glad that more of them didn't choose to go down this route. I would also say, that perhaps this is one of the episodes that suffers from coming after other editions with similar types of characters.
Overall, like most anthology series, Visions has been a mixed bag. Some, like "The Ninth Jedi" and "The Duel" I've really enjoyed whilst others, like "Lop and Ocho" and "The Twins" I've felt less positively about. As an experiment though, overall, I think it's been a worthwhile one and I'd be interested in seeing some of these stories expanded to either a feature length or into a series proper.

It wasn't bad, but I don't know that it holds up to the quality of most other episodes in this season for me.
The animation wasn't actually bad. I thought it was an odd creative choice given this is a season finale, but it wasn't horrendous like some are saying.
The character design wasn't bad, and I really liked how creepy the Sith Lord looked.
It is definitely the least original of the season though, with an ending that I liked nonetheless. Reminded me of some of those other Sith Lords who started out as Jedi.
The score was excellent and the English-speaking voice work was also good. Not one of the best in the season though, and I would have preferred a different one on this one's place I guess? Still, not bad.

Echoes Anakin's fall
luvsspge24 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What I loved about this episode is how this reflects Anakin Skywalker's fall to the dark side. He envisions someone he cares about die, then is compelled to join the dark side in order to save them. Only this time the Jedi in question uses his dark side powers gained through his new master to save his deceased friend but falls to the dark side nonetheless. However, the animation wasn't great and felt subpar to most of what we've seen in this first season. Good ending to the first season, definitely looking forward to a second one.

I don't watch anime. This happens to be the first
anime I have ever watched. It has just never
appealed to me, but I love Star Wars, so I
decided to give it a try.
This was the worst episode of the season and it wasn't even close. As I said earlier, this is my first anime, and I am very glad with how it went, I thought the first eight episodes were great. I loved the stories, animation, characters, and the writing. Unfortunately, my first anime ended on a bad note. I was very disappointed with this episode. The characters were once again great and developed perfectly, and the artwork was very cool, but I didn't really feel a need for this episode. Star Wars: Visions would have been fine with 8 episodes. First off, this episodes final battle was on a whole level lower than all the previous episodes. It was just bad. The other episodes' final battles were super fast paced with crazy action that lasted for a few minutes. This episode's lasted a good 30 seconds, and there wasn't much action. The ending was also very poor. It didn't sit well with me at all.
This episode was decent, it just could have been so much better.

I liked the animation style...most of the time. And the voice acting was pretty nice. But the story kept getting jerked here and there, and by the end I was left feeling like I hadn't experienced a short film so much as I had just gone through a fever dream. Personally the ending was especially insulting to me as a Star Wars fan, since this rando Jedi was able to achieve what freakin Anakin Skywalker couldn't. I tried to see these stories as standalone, but in this one case I'm gonna have to voice my disdain for this being a rushed knockoff of Anakin's fall. The animation and sound design are the only reason I'm giving this as high as a 5/10.
Engaging, but intermittently confusing

I really liked this short. The style, character design, sound design, etc. We're all done well. I also enjoyed the plot, and felt it was engaging throughout. Having a similar Anakin ending but with Miss being revived is interesting. Could make for a good continuance, and a much deeper delve into free will vs predestination.
The only part I didn't like about it was the father flashback. It was confusing to me.

Great story and fantastic animation
guilherm-1403030 September 2021
Top 3 episodes of the show, the story of this one is absolutely great and it works superbly as a short story since it packs quite a punch with the amazing ending. The only bad thing about the episode is a somewhat disjointed pacing.
I disagree heavily with some of the reviews saying the animation isn't good, that's just a totally poor understanding of animation. The animation on this is one is gorgeous. It's highly stylized, but the drawing is really rich and the visuals are incredibly beautiful. Talking purely about animation quality this one is only behind "Lop & Ochô" and "The Village Bride".
Inconsistent show overall, especially the awful second episode, but it was worth watching for the best episodes and this was a fantastic one to end it.

The score never seems to either fit or enhance the scene; it always stands out in a jarring and annoying way.
The plot is also boring and uninspired and the characters are nothing.
Worst episode of this show, which is impressive considering how bad most of the episodes are.

Nothing new

4 stars for this episode. I wasn't a fan of the style or animation at all for this one and found myself being bored throughout. Characters didn't engage me then towards the end we find the episode going down a familiar path of a Jedi turning to the dark side. The soundtrack was awful. Didn't even feel or sound like Star Wars whilst watching.
Only the bad aftertaste remains... and the drums.

Warning: Spoilers
A sad closure of the overall lacking Star Wars: Visions. Extremely forgettable story that rivals Anakin's prequel "arc" in its ax-carved simplicity. An almost incoherent series of amazingly gaping scenes, crowned by the oddity of a bizarre, fever-like ending. What do we get here, honestly? A schematic road from point A to point B, confrontation with the main evil Sith... lady, and then after a pathetic "battle scene" the switch to the dark side because I have to save ma' Padmé! At least it worked here...
Animation, as many have mentioned, is problematic to put it mildly, especially the character design. The backgrounds worked quite well in some places, you can't deny those panorama shots were quiet nice. And the drums! If I remember anything from this episode in 10 minutes, those drums will be the ones. And that bad aftertaste, of course.

Horrid animation and incoherent storyline apparently fine by a 5 year old

With no talent. LOL at the reviewers who stated the animation was good. They need to see an optometrist pronto. If I'd seen this as the first ep I would not have seen the rest. The animation was incredibly bad and the story ( what there was of it ) was a mess. No we infer they left this for last. 12 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Skip it.
