Where did the horror go in American Horror Story??
Yvie8114 October 2021
Sooooo...why did they not just make an entire season around the storyline of Red Tide? I mean, AHS stands for American Horror Story, not American Humour Story, right? The scenes from the past are watchable, and well it is amusing how they're sort of rewriting history and incorporated the wellknown conspiracy theory that Kubrick directed a fake moon landing. But apart from that the present day part is just ridiculous. The actors are over the top in their acting and storyline is laughable. Where did the horror go in American Horror Story??

What is happening

Warning: Spoilers
I would have given this a 0 If it weren't for the black and white scenes. That is the best part of this season, the history and how they are tying everything together. But the present day stuff is so stupid and laughable. I mean those two guys, what is wrong with them? You gave birth to an alien. It was creepy and ugly. Then the next one was like an octopus or something. I hope it kills them both. That was one of the most ridiculous scenes I've ever had to sit through. And I'm wondering how those "actors" even accomplished the scene without dying of laughter throughout it. All the tears and emotions of losing your alien baby....come on guys. How could you even write that with a straight face.

How illogical can it get?
tsuyoshi-6167114 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know where to start.... 2 males get impregnated with an alien baby, and then they get all emotional about "wanting to start a family" with that kid. Oh.. did I mention that the baby is an alien? AN ALIEN! Who would cry over "wanting to start a family" with a f--ing alien baby?! If you were impregnated with an alien baby, wouldn't you act terrified? Would you really cry over how you "love" the baby? Lol This show is turning into some serious, bad joke. It's just too illogical at this point.

And don't even get me started at how many time jumps were in this episode. 1954, 1964, 1953, a week later, 3 weeks before, 2021, a week later..... it's ridiculous.

AHS needs a Huge change. Horror stories was so bad, and now this?

As many other before me said, the BW part is actually pretty great. But the color part is a travesty and the exakt opposite of what made AHS great in earlier seasons.

Compared to the color part in death valley, last three seasons Before this one, are masterpieces.

A whole lot of randomness
hnt_dnl16 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This may be my last season watching AHS. I should have learned my lesson with Season 9, but in the midst of this Covid crisis and desperate for anything new and original, I pushed forward and decided to watch Season 10. Much like Season 9, this season is a tale of two halves. The 1984 season had a strong first 5 episodes only to falter in the last 4. And it's pretty apparent that the first half of Season 10, the Red Tide arc, will end up better than it's second act Death Valley. And even Red Tide itself was only consistently good for it's first half with a strong first 3 episodes and only managing to muster 1 great episode out of it's last 3, that being Gaslight. Death Valley is only 4 episodes long and only 1 of them, 10x08, has been remotely decent. The only good parts of this episode and arc are the continued great acting of Neal McDonough and Sarah Paulson as the Eisenhowers, but they're not enough to fix this train wreck of an arc.

This episode BLUE MOON is pretty much the nail in the coffin for me. The finale could be a masterpiece (believe me, it won't) and it won't turn Season 10 into one of the better AHS output. Impossible. This episode continues the alien arc with the multiple timeline thing and the past era just gets worse. It started off great in the premiere episode 10x07 with the Eisenhowers and Amelia Earhart, but has devolved into parody ever since with the terrible impersonations for iconic figures JFK, Richard Nixon, and Marilyn Monroe. And people need to stop using this "AHS is camp" excuse. There's been plenty of serious in this series. Eisenhower isn't camp, so why is Nixon coming across so silly? It's just plain bad writing and acting. And the 4-college student storyline is just a mess at this point. What is their purpose exactly? They are just observers and sideshow acts this season who sit in the dining room of that spaceship and ramble about being pregnant. Also, what happened to Leslie Grossman in this episode? Her acting had been on point up until now. Then she forgets her character Calico is supposed to have a Texas accent and the writers come up with this fake moon landing nonsense. It's supposed to be funny but it's coming across as cheap and childish. Then there's that terrible ending with the gay couple and the emergency delivery of the facehugger. You can't make this stuff up!

Also, Cody Fern pops in playing an alien envoy, yet another character bent on world domination, introducing iphone technology and having sex with Mamie. Yeah, THIS is the writing that AHS has devolved to. And I expect more of the same in the next 3 seasons, which I am almost 100% sure I won't be wasting my time watching. It's obvious that Ryan Murphy either has lost his ability to tell a complete arc sans all the agenda-riddled storytelling or he just plain doesn't care to and wants to preach and talk down the viewer like we're dumb kids. This now trashy series might as well be on the CW now because the dialogue and situations are very comical and silly. AHS was probably over as a series to be taken seriously as far back as Season 4, so that means this show will have run for a full decade after that with mediocre storytelling. Mediocrity is apparently the rule now. Welcome to modern television!

Warning: Spoilers
So apparently the pain stops after your belly is cut open and the baby is taken out,as if the baby is the source of the pain and an open belly isn't , I'm affected by the reviews cuz now I see this second part as more of a parody than something serious , oh boy, that's not good.

I'm glad that next episode is going to be this season final episode because this whole thing is shaking more than Nicki's buttocks. Like how someone came with this lame idea, it's just too average for American Horror Story.

So hard trying to rate these episodes
Drank2214 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I find it really hard to give an accurate score to these latest episodes as it's like there is two episodes in one, but one is by far better than the other.

The Black any white scenes have been totally triumphing over the present day scenes since the premiere and once again are far superior this round. The story is far more interesting and consistent, it's far more eerie and the acting is always on point.

Once again, my favourite part of this episode. I definitely liked all the historical tie ins they made.

Then, we flash forward. Now, the present day scenes are not as bad as what we saw in the first episode, but it is still like a slap in the face coming from the black and white scenes to that. Last weeks present day scenes are well done and quite interesting, but I feel like this episode sorta back tracked on that by being a little too goofy.... Everyone just seems far to 'huh whatever' to their whole situation. Did we even get a scene at all of them freaking out? They all just look so bored.

The whole tease last week was how the baby was gonna get out of him and they literally just preformed a c-section and that was it. Honestly, as soon as I realized that his character was not going to die I was immediately disappointed. The whole scene/idea surrounding the birth was pretty cool and interesting, but the character is so bland and unlikeable that he sorta ruined it by just being alive....

Calicos flashback scene was also a little silly. The astronauts are just chilling in a bar when they're supposed to be in space? I don't think so....

And then by far the worst part (and why I'm bitter) of the episode is: "I don't want my random ALIEN baby to die, we always wanted a family" "Here, I'll take you away from everyone else in AREA 51 and literally cut your stomach open with no prior medical knowledge so that our ALIEN baby will live, because they killed mine :'(" "Hahah that sounds great, can't wait to get cut open and see our ALIEN baby" The whole premise was just so stupid. Like I get what they were trying to do, but why execute it like that? Why not have the boyfriend be in the operating room and knock out Theta or something before she slits the babies throat... I was almost gonna give this episode a 9 or a 10 (entirely because of the Black and white) but this stupid scenario makes me feel like an 8 is even too much.

I think I was supposed to feel some sort of emotion (maybe sadness?) towards these characters during this scene but all I felt was disappointment in the writing. These characters are all just so insufferable I don't understand it. (Not talking about Calico and Theta of course, they're carrying the present day on their backs)

Thank god for the alien octopus baby saving the day and hopefully killing one or both of them! Such a cool scene, but totally ruined by the whole premise...

And then we have one episode to go. Hopefully it wraps up somehow but, honestly this has been such a stressful part 2 of this season. I don't know if I can handle another amazing ~30 minutes of black and white scenes being completely ruined by a few present day scenes....

8/10 only because I quite enjoyed the majority of this episode (black and white), and the ideas they had at the end were cool/interesting, but unfortunately poorly executed.

Second Birth
ZegMaarJus20 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with Ike, he has a discussion with his wife Mamie. Mamie fainted. Valiant is negotiating with Ike. Ike had a couple of discussions with his wife. Marilyn has been killed in her house. Ike sees Valiant his entire alien collection. Troy gave birth to his alien baby. Theta killed Troy his alien baby. Calico tells her life story to Jamie, Cal, Troy and Kendall. Troy cuts Cal his alien baby out of his belly. The alien baby attacks Cal. Solid Episode of American Horror Story Season 10, it feels like a weird ending of Season Ten of this Series. The high level of the first part this Season was much higher!

if Kaia Gerber took a pill from "Red Tide"
spencerlogandunham14 October 2021
If Kaia Gerber took a pill from "Red Tide" she'd be the palest walker of them all along with the rest of the modern day cast of extremely insufferable no-talent hacks. "Death Valley" belonged on the straight-to-streaming American Horror Stories spin-off. Couldn't even finish the episode and will not be tuning in for the remainder of season ten.

Best episode so far!
joshuabarillaro14 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The black and white part of the season is extremely good- I almost wish the whole season was like this. It's extremely engaging and provides a good theory as to what might have happened in the 50s/60s. The Area 51 storyline is very intriguing and a cool nod to all the conspiracies about it. I also thought the idea that Monroe was actually killed due to her knowledge about it was a cool parallel to stories that I've heard about her death. And as per usual, Cody Fern and Sarah Paulson are particular amazing in this episode.

The modern day part of the episode is definitely better than in the first episode, but it definitely isn't the best. Leslie Grossman is definitely carrying it and I'm glad she's there.

But again, it probably would've better to just make the whole season the black and white storyline.

Thank God it's almost over
charlie_rum16 October 2021
It's getting worse every week! Thank God there's only one episode left and then we can all go back watching something else. Worst season ever! It would have been better if they have stuck to Red Tide.

The acting is really poor too... I keep watching this only for the love for AHS but I can't stand it anymore!

So Cliché...
katildavsan15 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Each season of AHS willingly starts with some horror movie clichés but soon things get evolved into different dimensions beyond viewers' imagination, like aliens in Asylum or witches in Apocalypse, thats the point of the show. However, Death Valley is just stuck with cliches; everyone knows conspiracy theories about linking Kennedy's or Marilyn Monroe's murders with aliens or microwave being an alien technology and many others. How did writers convinced themselves that demonstrating iPod as an alien technology will be interesting? Almost nothing in this and previous 2 episodes are surprising or intriguing, at least Neal McDonough and Sarah Paulson make black&white parts watchable, but the scenes with teens are just unbearably bad, and even though I like Leslie Grossman as a person, she just shouldn't have that much of screentime in AHS, she always portrays the same character that simply does not fit with the show.

Oh dear
alicej-1370619 October 2021
I actually enjoyed this episode to start with. It obviously wasn't the best but I had some interest in it for the first half. It all went downhill when it went back to the pregnant group of friends. The two males are one of the most cringeworthy couples i've ever seen and their acting, particularly the blonde haired guy was so bad. The whole thing of them wanting to start a family and acting like them being pregnant was ok and normal just felt like woke crap being forced down our throats. This is not the American Horror Story I fell in love with. I worry about the future of this show now. Honestly this season should've just been 10 episodes of Red Tide and not two separate stories in one.

There was SOO many time jumps in this episode I couldn't keep up!! The red tide finale was really rushed so why didn't they make that 10 episodes and death valley 10 episodes too??

I enjoyed every part of this episode and got a few chuckles out of it. Definitely different and more interesting than what others are saying. Perhaps go into this expecting nothing and you'll be surprised? Not sure...but it's definitely not propaganda of any sort lol.

This boring, absurd, non sensical episode is not horror fiction it is just propaganda, a disgusting, lame bad joke... Come on! Maternal attachment for a horrible creature product of a intergalactic rape! We are not stupid like these characters.

Mamie having intercourse with that stupid robot. The character of Calico it is just bad, lazy writing.

All the jumping around through different times, lack of interesting story, and the disappointment that comes from enjoying the first part of the series so much and now having to endure this in the hope it will be as good... makes this horrible.

Red Tide was awesome, these last 4 episodes are an awful waste of time.
jswope-405101 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So, the Black & Whote protions of these last 4 episodes have all been really bad, mainly because of them being Black & White & jot being shot like a typical American Horror Story show. The in-color parts started off great, until this 3rd episode when the HOSTS cared about what happened to the MONSTERS pulled from their bellies. You were impregnated by aliens with a monster & you cry about it being taken out of you & them killing it? Come on, this was just some of the worst writing I have ever seen. I was really disappointed in Apocalypse, but have really enjoyed every season before Apocalypse. I really hope this isn't a downward spiral for AHS. Especially since Red Tide was so dang good. I would've LOVED to have seen the aftermath of the end of episode 6.

The first episodes of this were really good and had potential to make a brilliant series. What the hell happened?! They killed off all of thr good characters. All of them. Then went off on a random aliens and conspiracy theories tangent. Jeez. Horrendous last few episodes. One of the worst things I've seen since the Squid Games VIPs.

Take It With a Grain of Salt
trinaa1520 October 2021
So, it's not the best, but not the worst. I am pretty sure the writers are purposefully parodying alien storylines, and they are also showing how convoluted these theories and cover-ups are. Faking the moon landing? Of course this is all parody. The black and white scenes are reminiscent of those old B alien movies, ones which would end up on Mystery Science Theater. The present day scenes I kind of only half watched, but the end reminded me of Men in Black. I honestly think Ryan and company are trying to make this half of the season more humorous and light-hearted, after the first half was so dark and uneasy. Hoping next season they go back their pre-covid roots.

Revealing, Exceptional
JoshuaMercott16 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The penultimate episode in Season 10 of "American Horror Story: Blue Moon" promptly picked up where dark scenarios left off in the previous episode. Directors Laura Belsey and John J. Gray dove into the thick of things, capturing the tension, fear, and angst that prevailed in Dwight Eisenhower's (played by Neal McDonough) close circles, especially in relation to his wife Mamie Eisenhower (played by Sarah Paulson).

Writers Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Kristen Reidel wrote another captivating instalment in the "AHS" lineup. All loose ends were being wrapped up in this epi, filled with some insanely good moments and unbridled revelations.

All cast and crew were on point, and helped bloom the themes that prevailed throughout S10 of "American Horror Story" on Disney+ Hotstar. One fan theory came true in this episode, namely the one about Cody Fern being the 'hidden voice' of the alien that psychically took over the minds and bodies of both Mamie Eisenhower and Maria Wycoff (in previous epis). Cody made quite the extra-terrestrial entrance in the suited guise of a man named Valiant Thor. He arrived to play the role of 'business liaison' between the POTUS and the aliens.

The way they touched upon the technological prowess of a Smartphone in relation to the sizeable computers of Eisenhower's time was relevant and significant. Apparently, the aliens gave knowledge of computer-level smartphones to humans in that era, a while before technologies saw an upgrade in society.

From underground bunkers to alien abductions, this epi had it all and then some, including the (dramatized) establishment of Area 51 and the (long theorized) faked Moon landing. They also covered a potential reason behind Marilyn Monroe's (played by Alisha Soper) 'apparent' suicide.

The 'colour' sequences featured alien childbirth involving the four teen friends. Good scenes all, emotional without being contrived. Calico's (played by Leslie Grossman) entire narrative arc in this episode was revelatory and splendid. They plot-twisted using Calico's coming to know of the Moon landing 'movie shoot' (directed by Stanley Kubrick, of all people J) that took place in Area 51.

She was in Tokyo at the time, and coincidentally spotted Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong at her bar 'hiding out', apparently, until they 'returned' from space a few days later. I always wondered how and why Calico was chosen to be abducted by the MIB - they wrapped this loose end up quite nicely.

None of these elements deviated from the storyline that was established before this epi in the "Death Valley" segment of "AHS" Season 10. Why, S10E09 "AHS" even framed subtle connections to a few elements in its initial "Red Tide" Double-Feature portion - fan theories, to be precise, like some fans purporting Cody Fern's Valiant Thor was Doris Gardner's (played by Lily Rabe) baby.

Finally, a tentacled creature-baby concluded the episode with a horrifying curtain-call it well and truly deserved. "Blue Moon" was a great epi, and did not disappoint. Now all that remains is the finale, and I do hope they make it a doozy.

Why?! Why?!
penny_yioda1 August 2022
I love AHS. Every season has been amazing.

Red tide I really enjoyed but this double feature wtf. I am shocked at how bad it is.

The reviews are all correct. I'm on episode 9 (3rd of double feature) and I don't know how I've made it this far. I need to see series out so I'm just putting up with this nonsense whilst I do stuff in the background. It's only about four episodes but they are the worst four eps I've ever seen!

Wish it was just all the red tide as that just ended and could've kept going!

Also the constant flipping 'alien music' is making want to stab my eyeball.
