a good film and problems of new meaning and classification
silelli24 November 2009
Immediately after the film I was a bit disoriented, then I understood why: the category 'noire/horror' is not correct for this movie, it limits and hides its meaning; the film is not just a 'noire', it is instead a cry, a rebellion, a denunciation of some of the most unbearable social injustice and violence (I don't refer only to the exploitation of feminine body but also to the impossibility to live as an artist). So the film doesn't deserve the category 'noire'; on the other hand, the film is not a 'social movie', we cannot take it as a simple example of 'good practices'… since the puzzlement among categories. More: it is often women/directress who take the risk of searching for new categories, who try to convey new messages through old languages; we must recognise this worth to the movie: the courage to convey new social meanings through the old category 'horror'. Congratulations, and go on! Silvia
