A Lot of Problems
k022023 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It felt like the main actress was reading her lines. I can live with some things not being realistic, but a lot of the story just didn't make sense. So she has to get a new phone - people rarely get new phone numbers in modern times. And phone companies don't reissue numbers in a matter of days. The designer needed to get away, so she cancelled her phone service? And the number just happens to go to a wanna be designer.

Then the star gets her big break designing clothes that could make her career, but she also has to plan the big party, although there is a party planner and why not take some time out for game night?

Finally, at the end, she is going to send all the runway clothes, which she only designs things she wants to wear, to her mother. There was nothing wrong with the mother's build, but she's not a 20-something runway model. It would have made more sense to give them to the friend.

Overall, it felt like this was written by someone in middle school.

Inconsistent lighting takes away from otherwise good film.
JBThackery11 May 2022
Lighting is not balanced throughout the film. Almost every scene renders some cast members into practically different people, especially Allie and Marie. Often I could not tell if I were looking at the same people. Some cast even seemed to gain and lose substantial amounts of weight from one scene to another, while beauty varied from common to exquisite.

Too bad: because despite starting with a near-impossible plot catalyst, the script and acting are actually quite good, the characters are interesting, and the action flow holds the attention.

The lighting quality did improve as the film progressed. I would watch it again.

Re: annoying narrative

That was the Described Video you heard. Don't know why CityTv forced it on all of us fans of cheeseball cinema. You didn't enjoy knowing when someone looked at their coffee cup?

Aggravating, Annoying and Interuptive Narrative
tjsales-1327520 March 2022
The movie was kinda cute, but I found the narrative that kept up from the beginning all the way to the end extremely frustrating.

I kept pausing the movie trying to figure out how to turn it off.

I got so aggravated that I almost deleted the movie entirely from my tivo.

Then I found this review page and decided to take my frustrations out here.

I definitely did not enjoy someone telling me exactly what I was looking at.

I have no problem with my eyes which is why I wanted to WATCH a movie and not listen to it. Totally distracted from the movie like someone making too much noise in a theater and everyone shushing them.

Amiable Hallmark romance.
Weirdling_Wolf22 April 2024
Love on Trend 2021 - Nicholas Humphries.

Youthful, aspiring fashion designer Allie (Jocelyn Panton) meetcutes dashing tech guy Colin (Giles Panton) and tumultuously, her lofty career aspirations, and love palpitations coloufully intertwine as they discover they are tailor made for one other! Sadly, my terminal lack of interest in fashion remains wholly unmoved by Love on Trend, but Allie's amiable boss/chum Kendra (Amanda Wong)is a propah sweetie, and, unlike cold reality, in fuzzy Hallmarkland all of life's travails are amicably resolved in a suitably cutsey fashion. Real life married couple have a likeable screen chemistry, and their fictitious personas exude a palpable warmth.

Annoying Narrative
shirleyannebarr19 March 2022
What is with the narrative explaining everything that is happening? Did you think as an audience we aren't smart enough to follow the story. Very annoying and so not necessary.

I don't mind the plot, but the fashion element of this movie is highly questionnable
shalimarsubagja2 October 2023
This is a Hallmark movie, so I expect the light vibe. I don't mind at all. But sadly, since the story is about fashion industry, I really hope they take the theme and setting seriously... which they don't. Since the blah sweatpants show up, I know it's gonna be a disaster. And my my, I hate when I'm right. Why can't they contact a fashion designer or a stylist for this movie? So we can have a proper fashion for this. Instead, I have to see ugly stuff parading here and there. And not even an edgy style. Just Amazon-bought stuff that makes me hate this movie even more. I regret watching this. Sorry~

Hard to stick with
Jackbv1235 September 2022
This movie felt like an amateur production from the beginning. Jocelyn Panton lacked polish. Some of the acting and much of the dialogue was just off.

Giles Panton was OK. I'm surprised that this real life married couple didn't come off better.

The premise is a slight twist on impersonating the successful or famous boss. In this case, who in the world thought this would end well?

I thought Colin was a little too emphatic about saving jobs in Cassidy's company.

There's a secondary romance with Kendra and Arturo.

The conflict caught me by surprise. It's almost worth sticking with it that long. It gets a bit complicated.

Ok plot but dialogue kept tailing off
SunnyDaise26 November 2022
This movie is quite original, but some cast members' lines became too quiet / unclear at times, so I tuned out on multiple scenes. I wish Reel One Entertainment and others would make more movies about over 40s as it would allow for a wider range of storylines, and viewers will grow out of these early career settings too quickly - I'm not gonna buy them because they don't have much rewatchability / longevity. The characters in this movie aren't particularly inspiring - but I do empathise a bit as they're just trying to make the best of a chaotic world like many of us. Not the best, but not the worst of the genre.

bland script. and acting. and direction.
ksf-221 January 2024
This one sure feels like a hallmark movie. Very cute couple is forced to work together for some strange work assignment, or high school reunion. Awkward at first, but they usually work out for the best. So much dramatic music, with so many lines that didn't warrant it. When a fashion designer disappears, allie fills in. Except the higher ups think she is the one they hired to do the work. So many lies... it's all going to blow up down the line for sure. And of course the two leads seem to be attracted to each other, but there has to be a huge misunderstanding, like on three's company. But they stole a line from will and grace: colin says "i could eat an entire meal just out of appetizers." one demerit. It's pretty soapy sudsy, with the romantic flourishes playing underneath for most of the film. Pretty slow and simple story. Gotta give this one just an Okay. Directed by nicholas humphries written by joelle sellner.
