To me, I thought the episode was decent, but the main problem with this episode is that it heavily borrows too much from another season 4 episode "Jinx", that it almost seems like a replica of the episode.
There are good moments, like the twist with the dead author being alive, as well as what caused his death. How the treasure was empty when the 118 and Athena found it was also a good twist. I thought the twist added a good twist to the episode, so it separates itself from "Jinx" Another unique thing about this episode was the alliances. It's kind of a shame the episode never used the alliances more. It would've been fun seeing all the 9-1-1 characters competing.
Probably the best thing about this episode was the conversation between Athena and Bobby over retirement, on how Bobby says no job lasts forever, but Athena wants to do the job until she is old.
In all, it was a decent episode of 9-1-1. And after seeing the preview of next week's episode, I can't wait for the final 2 episodes. Hope there is a Season 5.
