Hard To Follow Doc
AudioFileZ29 July 2018
There's some gold here, but it's obscured by poor execution and editing. It's as if you get bits and pieces that are sloppily linked. The filmmaker had a chance during a fleeting window to interview Hit'er's still living relatives and just couldn't link it properly. Or even interview the few still living in any meaningful way. The gist is does anyone still living with a familial link to Adolf Hitler have any rights to the revenue stream of Mean Kampf? That is never answered definitively. so the measures enacted after the war remain in place. While this has many facets that are interesting it's ultimately useless. See if your a completist, otherwise there's only the ongoing curiosity. Ultimately there's no remaining living heirs. Case closed and nothing revealed.

Zero editing skills RUIN what could have been revolutionary material.

The subject matter is so fascinating, and this filmmaker has completely thrown the opportunity away with poor planning, poor filming (REALLY bad) and terrible/nonexistent editing.

It's very confusing with the interviewer doing all the talking (off camera) with an entire family of Hitlers sitting in the kitchen with the camera only pointing at one person who never speaks!

No one is ever clearly identified, so nothing makes sense.

WEIRD.

A Poorly Made Film
srveronica5 July 2017
I agree with the previous reviewer that it was a poorly made film that could have been very good. It was actually a hodgepodge of interviews that were not properly identified. An excellent example of that was the talks with Eva Braun's sister Ilse. Nothing was mentioned that she had been dead since 1979. Like I said, the potential was there for a very interesting and informative presentation, but it was wasted.

Interesting Documentary
colliertng16 August 2020
I have to strongly disagree with "AudioFileZ in his/her review. This documentary is very interesting because it gives us a look about Adolf Hitler from the people that were with him firsthand. Any family members of the Hitler Family don't anything to do with any type of interviews about their connection with one of the greatest mass murderers in Human History. In fact, the remaining male members of the family in the United States that are descendants of Patrick Hitler have made it their life's ambition to never have any children that passes on the bloodline. In fact, when inquiries were made to have DNA samples submitted to test bones fragments in the Russian Federation, they denied the request. They want to kill off the Family's bloodline, once and for all. They don't want the stigma to haunt their family ever again and don't want to recount it either. The best thing is too grant them and respect their wishes.
