Just For The Record, I'm Not A Vagrant. I'm A Hobo.

Reacher continues to investigate the murders in Margrave, including that of his brother. Kinda slows down a little bit, but still good. I love the addition of classic bad man character actor, Bruce McGill to the roster.

More Exposition
Hitchcoc8 March 2022
More bodies, a budding romance, three broken wrists, and a crucified cop. This is pretty episodic and throws more coal on the fires. The mayor takes over the police department and it is obvious that he has his own agenda. The second episode ends with a threat carved on a door. Could be interesting.

The Show Continues To Get Better
gbarrett-399415 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
They have ramped up the action and the suspense. Kristin Kreuk's southern accent is horrible, but it is great to see her in a show again. The Smallville nostalgia is from seeing her is great. The Latino gang members also had very bad accents, but hey...the show is on Amazon and the writings are a bit suspect.

not as good as the pilot, but still important

Warning: Spoilers
I appreciate that they are continuing the story with this episode, and further developments are being made to make the whole conspiracy town plot more intricate and intense. I was really surprised when they pulled out that insanely brutal scene that also contained graphic nudity and castration. In a show where a lot of the enjoyment is out of the calming dialogue and interesting back and forth chemistry between the characters, it was very out of place, but I didn't mind it too much. I love it when shows get disturbing out of nowhere in order to remind you of the true stakes of the story. This isn't some little hike through the woods, people are dying and families are being shredded apart, and things are getting serious. Nice episode. Very cute.

excellent show

Warning: Spoilers
Before reacher, I watched chucky and those 2 tv shows I can say for sure have been the best so far. Fast paced and well done..

Reacher is exactly like he was portrayed on this show.

Of course, we must have an annoying person but I am glad they put the female partner as someone who even tho is small. Was confrontational at first.. look i am empowered and 0 afraid of you mr.. but now she is actually helping him and not all the time saying she is the law and he should just do nothing.. which is what we usually have when there is this kind of dyanmics.. of course, if the lead is female, she does not listen to anyone and still gets no punishment.. we know how it is

great second episode and gonna watch the next one right now!

Depends on how you ask

The mystery thickens in Margrave as multiple people drop dead. Reacher is learning more and more how dangerous this is becoming. I like the way that the mystery is slowly unfolding in a small town setting. There are some magical elements to stories that have this setting because it's a manageable size and scope and personally something that most people including myself haven't really experienced.

This show is continuing to prove itself with a strong plot (but perhaps a little early to tell) and some strong characters. You would assume that given how Reacher seems to have no flaws and is good at everything he does, it might make the character a little less interesting. Definitely not true.

Roscoe and Reacher's relationship is developing and it's nice that there's nothing sexual so far. They are pretty cute. Reminds me of Peacemaker and Harcourt. So far, so good!

Not bad, but not that exciting.
LegendaryFang5612 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I feel like the premiere leaned more into exposition, whereas this episode focused more on establishing and setting up things further. Whatever's going on must be pretty big, as proven by how the hired guns had military experience, so the setting up of what's to come seems to be painting a big picture: it's just a matter of whether or not it'll deliver. And we were also introduced to two major players, I believe. Mayor Teale. The Kliner guy. I imagine we'll get more of them throughout the rest of the season.

So, by all means, this episode was "important." Not to mention, this is only the second episode; of course, there wouldn't be much going on yet. Logically, I understand the relevance and importance concerning some things in this episode; as a whole, it didn't seem to deliver as much as the premiere, entertainment-wise. But maybe the premiere was entertaining because of being the start of a new show. This episode was still enjoyable to watch, though. But given the purpose of this episode, doing more introducing, establishing, and setting up, it was bound to be a little less enjoyable.

There were still aspects and moments that stood out above everything else. Like the minor fight sequence against those hooligans, the surprising graphic nature of the murder; I wasn't expecting something like that in this show, and it was so sudden, it almost felt out of place; and the fight sequence against the two South American, military-experienced hired guns.

Arguably, the moments with Jack and Roscoe were more meaningful and relevant. I can see that, but I'm not too familiar with Roscoe's (or Jack's) character yet. So, I don't have a concrete opinion yet concerning their budding dynamic/relationship, which seems to be slithering into romantic territory. But their interactions, especially towards the end, were pleasant.

Oddly enough, my biggest takeaway was how different Willa Fitzgerald looked and seemed as Roscoe once she changed clothing and had her hair down. Granted, our only frame of reference is the premiere: one episode.

  • I thought the (literal) dark atmosphere during the first few minutes added a lot to the feel. But while I imagine there was also tension and suspense for some people: regarding those first few minutes, because of that, maybe even during other parts of the episode, that wasn't the case for me. And I find that interesting. I know this is only the second episode, yet some moments seem meant to emanate tension and suspense, and I'm not getting any of that.

  • The cinematography was also pretty decent, and I think it elevated those first few minutes of the episode as well. Overall, I like how this show looks, as far as the filming locations are concerned. But I do think the premiere's vibe is already disappearing regarding that. Maybe because there was more "green." There wasn't as much of that yellowish tint in this episode, either; it reminded me of how Doom Patrol looked.

  • It's nice seeing Kristin Kreuk, although I haven't seen her in anything else yet. But she's a familiar face, and I couldn't tell you why: I don't remember. She's attractive; she has a particular look to her. Maybe the eyes. But supposedly, her accent in this show is super bad. Based on that assertion, I'm assuming that whenever a Southern accent sounds super distinguishable in television and film, that means it is likely a stereotypical one: bad and inaccurate. Objectively, maybe her Southern accent isn't bad, and those who say it is are being subjective. I thought it sounded cool. A little stereotypical, but cool.

Overall, despite the six-out-of-ten rating I've given this episode, it wasn't bad. It makes sense for this episode to be a bit slow with hardly anything "exciting." But I think the writers did a decent job, structuring everything, along with the script/plot. They implemented a tiny bit of action to add a hint of excitement, and just subtle aspects, which I think compensated for introducing more characters and doing more establishing and setting up.

Both the premiere and this episode seem to start okay/decent until the end is closing in, then a little better than okay/decent. And some people may have preferred the latter with both episodes. But I thought the beginning of this episode was the best, the middle was okay: and afterward, including the ending, was a tiny bit better than the middle.

First Dance
Prismark1018 February 2022
Reacher is angry and after revenge knowing that it was his brother that was killed.

He wants to know just what his brother was dong in Margrave.

A second gruesome death involving the chief of police convinces Reacher that Margrave is corrupt.

It has crooked politicians, crooked cops and as far as Reacher is concerned. Local business magnate Kliner is at the centre.

Despite Reacher getting involved in a couple of bone crunching fights, getting up close to dance with Conklin.

This was a plodding episode. Tonally all over the place. The grisly death looked out of place.

Search for the Mastermind
lavatch7 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The bodies continue to drop in Margrave, and a mild romance begins in this second episode. The police captain, Morrison, is brutally murdered, and Reacher believes that the prison guard Spivey may know who is giving the orders. But Spivey eludes Reacher.

Fearing the worst for Hubble, the financier who may know too much, Reacher and Roscoe assist Hubble's wife and daughters into protection with assistance from the Atlanta detective Picard.

The sleazy mayor Teale has appointed himself captain of police following the death of Morrison. The viewer has to be suspicious of Teale because of the town's statue of one of his forebears.

After visiting a bar, Reacher and Roscoe must spend the night in a motel due to flooding. The next morning, they discover that Roscoe's home has been ransacked.

To be continued....

All good

A slower second episode, but still intriguing. Building a bigger picture at this point and there's still enjoyable action, so all good. The scriptwriters are making the effort here and it shows.

Over the top, confusing, disappointing.
qormi2 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The nailed to the wall bit was way over the top and unnecessary. Reacher got his quota of kick butt. When he was lucky enough to find himself sharing a motel room for the night with Roscoe, who is extremely attractive and really wanted it bad, Reacher just left her alone. What was that all about? I mean, what made him not attempt to fulfill his and her needs?

Generic show, mildly entertaining.
jeroen-1067 January 2023
Bit of a generic American TV show with the 'default setting' cliche storytelling and applicable protagonist jaw line.

Some questions I have:

  • Since Reacher is a hobo, why would the blonde police woman be interested in a man that only has one pair of underpants and no washing machine? That must smell.

  • Why can a military dude deduce so much information from so few data points on topics he knows nothing of? Aka why is he Sherlock Holmes when he is trained as special force?

  • Why is Reacher looking like a fitness pro when we never see him work out once and take anabolic supplements? Throughout the show's storyline he would have lost 10 pounds in muscle alone.

Filler Episode, or Character Development?
infinitetyler14 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I like the premise of "weak rich smart guy VS strong poor smart guy", but I feel like I missed the episode where Reacher finds out his brother is the murder victim and had to process the information.

This episode is a bit slower moving, and is trying to be more of a suspenseful crime drama like True Detective or Seven than an action show. The writing isn't amazing, but it's better than most things. Like Joss Whedon with less quipping.

It seems like this is supposed to be a character development episode, but the drawn out conversations aren't particularly revealing so a lot of it feels like filler.
