John (William Windom) is working in his office with female writer Dorothy Carter (Neva Patterson) on a story entitled "The Paper Tiger". When their Manhattanite Magazine editor Hamilton Greeley (Harold J. Stone) gets upset the two decides to go to Dorothy's apartment to work. John's wife Ellen (John Monroe) calls the office to be given the number he left to be reached. When she calls to find it's a woman's apartment, she thinks he is seeing another woman. Their daughter Lydia (Lisa Gerritsen) indirectly gives her mother advice on addressing the issue. Ellen meets with Dorothy to peacefully pull out that she is in fact attracted to John. The plot really twists when John too begins suspecting what Ellen claims is true.
